Our Summer PracTacular!! :)

Practical Tactical will have an "open house" of sorts, wherein I'll have a bunch of clearance and overstock items on sale, as well as some of the "regular" stuff at less than normal pricing.

Since I have no official storefront, and there is no easy way to host this, AND that I live far away from most people, AND it's closer to folks in the Tucson area who might want to come up, the Good Guys At Cav Arms have graciously offered me the use of their shop for this event. Who knows, maybe they'll have some of their stuff for sale, too.

When: Friday, July 21, 2006
Time: 13:00 - 19:00 hours
Where: Cavalry Arms
723 Commerce Ave, Suite A
Gilbert, AZ

http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?addr= ... name=&qty=

or

http://tinyurl.com/zoynn

Some of the items on sale and clearance will be:

      Camelbak
      BHI and Eagle Drop-leg holsters
      Hatch and Hellstorm Gloves
      various and sundry small lights
Blackhawk MOLLE pouches (ammo and other)
      And Much More! icon_smile

I will also be bringing a bunch of other items, like High Speed Gear stuff, some SOTech pouches and Maxpedition gear, some of which will be on sale.  I will have some GBB's for sale as a package deal. Like 4 or 5 for $150, cash only.  These are pistols that I've had for sale before...look up my old F/S ads for details.

For this event CASH IS KING and I am more likley to "negotiate" if you're paying in Jacksons, Grants and Benjamins and any other U.S. presidents (no Clinton currency, please!!). Visa/MC/Amex still acceptable contingent on me getting my laptop connected to the Internet, but that shouldn't be a problem.

AS AN ADDED BONUS Russell with Cav Arms will be conducting his FREE "Introduction to Multi-gun Competition Shooting" class starting at 7pm. This is a great course that covers all you need to know to get started in Multi-gun shooting competitions (rules, equipment, etc.). And it's FREE!!!

If you have any questions, please post here.

The PayPal Nazis have determined that our items do not meet their "acceptable use policy" and have cancelled our account, freezing over $500 of our money.  Thus, we no longer accept PayPal as a payment method.  We apologize for the inconvenience, but it wasn't our choice.

Accessories & Gear / This is what $8,000....

....worth of Multicam gear looks like piled on the floor before you dive into it like a Pirate's treasure....

I am not saying this is probable, or even possible.  I am merely gauging interest to see if it's feasible.

If I could get Maxpedition to do rollypolly pouches in real, 100% Crye MultiCam Cordura, how many (if any) would you be interested in?  I don't know exact price, but I imagine between $26-$30.  Yes, this is a bit more expensive than EGL or Reccegear, but if I can pull off the quantities I hope, there'd be no waiting.

I am NOT taking orders, just seeing level of interest.

Accessories & Gear / Wasatch/Weesatch price increases
« on: May 19, 2005, 06:15:58 PM »
FYI, the price on the Wasatch and Weesatchs will increase by $20.00 starting May 20th, 2005, to reflect the increase of the new-style, plus increases in material and delivery costs.

Starting May 20, the price of the Wasatch will be $205.00 and the Weesatch will be $180.00

I have a limited number of the "old style" left in inventory that I can still sell for the old price:

1 Wasatch in Khaki
a couple of Weesatches in OD/Khaki

Once these are gone, they're gone.

Accessories & Gear / Multicam South African vest project
« on: April 11, 2005, 09:26:37 AM »
I've always loved the South African assault vest. It's the basis for the MESA vest design.  Well, I was able to pick up a second SA vest which looks like it'd never been issued. So, I decided that my first one, which was well-used (but no 'dead guy' smell), would make a great project to convert to Multicam.

Here's what it looked like before:

Since I would never use the back pockets for their original purpose (linked ammo and a first aid kit), I decided that a hydration pocket would be more useful. Well, that and the fact I don't know how to do zippers, made the hydration pockets an easier choice, as well.  I also decided to add a drag-handle and replace the four .75"  side-adjustment buckles with three 1" straps.  Here is the result.  As you can see on the right side, I slightly messed up matching the "X" on one spot.

I wanted to add some PALS webbing, but not cover the whole thing, so I put 3 rows at the top and three at the bottom.  I realized this morning, that it is the same number as if I'd merely alternated rows as is customary, but oh well.  The center buckle helps support the back panel if I put anything on it, which is doubtful, but one never knows.

View with a filled 72oz Camelbak Omega reservoir.  Also, a close up of the reservoir loop I put in to help support the reservoir:

Overall, I think I did a swell job (if I do say so myself).  I am most impressed with the success I had with the binding. I did the inside stitching using the attachment, then the outside line was freehand.

Here are some other pictures.  Two notable "oops".  First, I cut the lid flap a little too wide, and it touches and folds up where it hits the sides of the hydration pocket.  Second, you'll see the pleat I needed to make to accommodage the too-wide material at the bottom. Should have put the pleat in the middle, but by the time I really realized it would look better there, I would have had to open the seam up, and I was too lazy to do that.  Since this is for me, no big deal.

My next steps are to replicate the pockets on the front panels.

Accessories & Gear / New Specter Gear pouches
« on: March 27, 2005, 11:32:33 AM »
Got some new Specter Gear pouches in. They are still in production mode for these new items, so I got VERY few in..basically, one of most of what I'd ordered.

Here are a couple examples I pulled from inventory:

Horizontal Utility Pouch:

Upright Utility Pouch:

Double Pistol magazine pouch:

Accessories & Gear / New sling
« on: March 10, 2005, 09:32:54 PM »
Here is another sling idea I got.  Basically, it’s a variant on a Chalker-style setup, except you don’t have to wear a separate harness.  Basically, you hook the sling to the D rings on your vest or backpack, then connect the two halves (actually, 1/3 and 2/3) together.  Then connect weapon to SR buckle that’s threaded on.  The pigtail has no adjustment, so there will be no extra material.  But for use w/other than a sling plate, different sizes will be necessary, esp if wrapping around a stock’s wrist, like an FAL or AK.

The weapon connection female end is free floating, which helps take care of the lack of extra pigtail material like on the Frankensling.  This allows for easy transitions from shoulder to shoulder.  The adjustment strap may need to be longer in the case of bigger guys, but since I have a 44â€￾ chest, I think it’ll be long enough.

I sort of came up with this after playing with the Blackhawk Chalker sling many moons ago. I hate that harness!    I tried to do something off the sternum strap of a Camelbak, and I still think it’s possible for lighter weapons, but the weight pulls the shoulder straps together.  I’ve not tried this one on a backpack (I’ve got a TAG 3-day pack I’ll try it with soon), but I think since the weight is on the shoulders and not the chest, the straps shouldn’t pull together.

Forgive the crappy pictures, but I made this and took pictures all within an hour, so I wasn't going to quality (at the time).

Accessories & Gear / SpecOps Brand ACU Gear
« on: March 08, 2005, 05:31:48 PM »
OK everyone, here's the latest on the ACU gear from SpecOps Brand.

1.  The stuff isn't even out yet, but they are between 800-1,300 units backordered on their X2, X4 and X6 pouches.
2.  Some items which would consist mostly of webbing v. cordura will be made in "Field Green", which is one of the colors in the ACU pattern.

So, here's the gear available in

ACU:
X2, X4 and X56 Pouches
THE Pack
Soldier's Optimized Buttpack
H.U.M.P.
MOUT Rig
Dump Pouch
Vapor Holster

Field Green
Combat Master Sheath, long and short
Navigator Sheath, Long and Short
Survival Sheat, long and Short
Recon Wrap
Multi-Light Sheath
Leg Rig (PALS Panel)
Super Sheath, Single and Double
M9 Mag pouch
Light Sheath Deluxe

You can view all the gear at http://www.specopsbrand.com

If you are interested, I need to know ASAP so I can get an order in.  I don't plan to go very deep in ACU or Field Green gear initially, so if I put together an order, I am going to want a 50% deposit from you folks.  deposits won't be due until I am ready to actually place the order..in about 2 weeks or so.

Given the backlog, it might take into the second run to get this stuff. I want to tell you that now so you don't get all bent and run to buy it somewhere else because they got it in first.  Because of that, refunds will NOT be refundable unless I completely cancel the order.

Next, if you are interested, POST IT HERE. No PM/IMs.

« on: February 25, 2005, 03:30:02 PM »

Just a heads up...we're not going to do gunshows any more...not profitable for us.

However, we're looking into opening a retail storefront later this year....

Accessories & Gear / Airsoft SAPI plates
« on: February 24, 2005, 05:55:12 PM »
Ok...this isn't a "for sure", but I am working on a deal to score some of the fake SAPI plates from Japan, in fact, these would be just like these on this page:

http://www.ukasc.net/content.php?review.15

I don't have a final price, since part of it depends on how many I order and what shipping ends up being.  But we're looking at around $65-$70 each, direct from Japan.

I need to know a count so I can make some more determinations are to if this is feasible.  These are sold in pairs only, so if we come up with an odd number, someone may get bumped or someone needs to find someone who wants one. :)

So...who's in?

Accessories & Gear / Where to buy: Glock 19 GBB
« on: October 04, 2004, 10:54:31 PM »
Looking for reasonable G-19 GBB pistol + mags. My AS supplier doesn't sell them.  Is this something Ron B. would carry?? How does one contact him apart from the swapmart place?

General Off-Topic Discussion / Need contacts for Airsoft/Paintball
« on: August 25, 2004, 09:49:24 PM »
As some of you may know, the 10th anniversary of Arizona's CCW law is this year.  There is a big shindig this October.  This is from a friend of mine, who volunteered himself to find something...a portable Airsoft 'range':

<blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote">
I am trying to locate the owner/managers of local paintball and airsoft dealers who would be able to set up a temporary shooting range for the CCW Banquet on October 2nd at the Shriner's Auditorium.

This would be out in the parking lot, not the inside vendors tables.

If you have the names of the shops, owner, manager and/or phone number, that would be helpful.

Gas Powered Guns / Problem with KWC 92FS GBB
« on: June 03, 2004, 08:14:20 PM »
Buddy of mine bought one of the KWC 92FS guns I've had in inventory for a while.  Worked fairly well using green gas.

Tonight he calls indicating that the gun went full auto on him during some target practice in his garage...and kept firing even after removing his finger from the trigger.

When he reloaded his mag with green gas (no BBs), he put it in the gun and said that it gave off a big WHOOSH and he lost all the gas.

I admit to having zero knowledge of these things, so any help/advice would be appreciated.

Tim
