Accessories & Gear / Replica gear
« on: May 30, 2004, 08:10:54 AM »
Gentlemen:

Looking for sources for replica ballistic vest units like the FSBE, RBA, Interceptor, etc.

Saw the one link to Boomarms. While prices are good, shipping may negate the savings. Thus, would appreciate a listing of other vendors of tacticaly nylon knock-offs.

Thanks,
Tim

Airsoft Equipment Specials / ProTec helmet, $7.95!!
« on: February 25, 2004, 05:35:58 PM »
Went to my local Sports Authority to pick up a helmet for my NVG helmet mount (Thanks Vulcan!).

One thing I found is that many of the newer helmets have the polystyrene liners that are glued to the helmet. Short of cutting into that with the front and back of the "lobster claw", I don't see how it'd work.

I came across the "classic" ProTec skate helmet, with its flexible plastic shell and Velcroed foam padding. The mount worked....and now the best part.

It was on sale for 7.95. Yep...SEVEN Dollars and 95 cents. My SA store had them on clearance. Don't know if this is chain-wide, but something to look into if you need one of these.

Glendale, Arizona – November 15, 2003. Assaultvest.com, one of the premier importers of Israeli Defense Force (IDF) vests and equipment, announces its merger with Practical Tactical, LLC, one of Arizona’s leading online retailers of military gear and equipment. The merger is effective immediately.

“When I learned I was going to be deployed to Iraq, I could think of nobody else I wanted to run this business than Practical Tactical.â€￾ Indicated Elijah Wong, founder of Assaultvest.com. “Working with them over the past year has shown me they are as committed to customer service and value as I am.â€￾

Tim Weaver, president of Practical Tactical, noted “I am honored that Elijah thinks highly enough of our company to entrust us with the business brand he’s built. Assaultvest.com’s customers should know to expect the same great service they received from Eli.â€￾

Weaver plans to continue the Assaultvest.com brand and website as a separate unit. “Elijah has built a well-respected name for the company and service, so we see no need to monkey around with what works.â€￾

Accessories & Gear / new assault vest on the market!
« on: October 24, 2003, 05:29:49 PM »
Well, everyone, here's the announcement.

Practical Tactical is proud to offer the PT-03 MESA Assault Vest, a MOLLE-based version of the South African P-83 vest. The MESA will be manufactured by High Speed Gear, Inc., exclusively for Practical Tactical and we're starting production within the next few days.

The Introductory price for the vest is only $145.00, twenty dollars off the regular price of $165.00. Delivery is expected in 6-8 weeks, but might be slightly longer as the first dozen or so units are already spoken for.

The image on the site is the final prototype. There are very minor changes from that and the production model. The elastic will be OD on the Khaki and OD vests (instead of tan), and some other minor strap attachment adjustments to make...nothing noticeable from the photos, really.

Plenty of pictures on the site, including some of the vest loaded out and in the field and photos with a variety of camouflage patterns.

Practical Tactical PT-03 MESA Assault Vest

We will be producing pouches in the near future, but any MOLLE-compatible pouch from BHI, SDS, Paraclete, SOE, Eagle, etc., will work. In the meantime, I have plenty of BHI STRIKE pouches in both Olive Drab and Coyote available.

Thanks to those who provided suggestions and were part of the focus group. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Finally, for the first 15 people who pre-pay, I will include a Camelbak Storm hydration unit for an additional $25.00, a savings of nearly 35% off the MSRP and $10.00 below Practical Tactical's normal price.

This offer will be made on a first-come, first-served basis, based on the order in which I receive your email and/or phone call. This message is being posted to forums at as close to the same time as possible. Not responsible for lost emails, etc.

If everything goes as planned, Practical Tactical will shortly announce a new piece of gear.

Will it cure cancer? No.
Will it spread peace among all mankind? Not likely.
Will it be revolutionary? Perhaps.
Will it make your life better if you’re a gear nut? Oh yeah, we think so.

Stay tuned.

Accessories & Gear / Night Vision

Here's the reply I got from my US Nightvision rep when I inquired about inexpensive / less expensive NV for airsoft, along with links I've provided so you can see the stuff:

quote:

You're correct in that 100 bucks isn't going to buy you anything but a decent daytime optic. Our USNV-143 was designed for paintball/airsoft applications and is available with either a dovetail or weaver mount system. It lists for $449.00 out the door.

quote:
On the other hand, you could have your customers go with a head mounted Night Guardian Mono Goggle in combination with a receiver mounted red-dot sight. Or the unit can be mounted to the gun and positioned behind a ERD sight. This setup would be good out to 40-50 yards, which is about the useful range any most airsoft/paintball guns. Your customer obviously already needs a decent ERD sight. It lists for $389.00 with head mount and soft case.

Here's the deal for you guys:

Anyone wants any of this stuff, I'll take 5% off the list price. However, if 5 or more of you get together for a group buy, I can take 10% off. Now, this doesn't sound like much and, to be honest, it isn't when compared with some other products. However, the margin on NVG is wafer-thin unless you are dealing in distributor-level quantities (usually 20+ on a single item).

Prices don't include Uncle Sam and Aunt Janet's cut (8.1%), though I'll deliver this stuff free in the Phoenix area.

Think it over, let me know.

Ok, let me explain it to you. when you have a website hosted, you get a certain amount of Bandwidth as part of the price. Bandwidth is the amount of data traffic that goes back and forth to/from your website. As I said, most plans give you X megabytes of bandwidth per month...think of it as the data equivalent of cell phone minutes.

Well, like a cell phone, if you go over your "included" minutes, then you get charged for each minute you exceed your plan's allotment. Same with bandwidth.

When you post a picture that displays the image from Gear Guru's website, you are causing the server hosting his account to transfer data, thus using bandwidth. Think of it as if someone had posted your cell phone number and people kept calling your phone, even though they didn't really want to talk with you, just see the number (ok, not the best, but it's ok). Well, your cell phone plan deducts each call from your allotment, getting you closer and closer to exceeding your plan.

So, what GG is saying is a) merely put a URL "hey, here's a cool pair of boots, go look if you want" link (which takes no bandwidth to display, and does so only if someone clicks on it) or b) copy the picture to your own website, the host the URL from there. IOW, use YOUR bandwidth.

My guess is GG DID join this forum to state this...and found it when his data usage skyrocketed based on this thread.

Gear Guru is, and correct me if I am wrong, merely asking for everyone here to remove the URL link from your posts and comply with the re-location or URL link request. So if you have to go edit it to do it, please do so.

As a business person, I completely understand GG's position and would do the same in his boots, er, shoes.
