Bah, you got the 1 friday I wouldn't be able to come .
But it would be quite interesting and sounds fun, I'd come if it were another Friday, like the 16th or 30th. ...

I think some clean up should be done at the ranch before a night game is played. I would be more than willing to help some since I'm so close to the ranch. I belive there is way too much debris in the rooms and around the houses for a night game, those nails hurt when you step on them, even more when you lay on them.

I also think we should find a night when it's a full moon, it gets mighty dark away from the city lights and goggles compound the problem.

If anyone has access to a IR compatible camera, it would make for some unique camera shots. Just a thought.

sounds great, I would easily be able to make that date, and the ranch I think is a prety good location. I've never steped on a nail at the ranch before, or if I did that's what BOOTS are for, it does not go through 1 inch heals to my knowladge. + lieing on them, what is the probablility that they will be straight up to go into you? Besides with the ranch, you have more cover, meaning you WON'T be hiting the deck, unlike playing in the forest or some other area in the desert. Tonapah is a great place that everone knows (so they'll know at night where to go) and is still a blast to play at.

One good thing about where the ranch is, is that the lights from the power plant are so bright it'd be day time again. :) Anyways, I agree about the clean up and if the game is on the 30th, me and my dad *might* be able to squeeze in some time to help pick up. Anyways if it does go through as a night game i think i'd be using a pistol the whole time. My gun shoots 360-370. EEK. :)

Where is the ranch located at? if it's not too far, I should be able to come out and help clean up. I've never been to the place before, so if I come out and help clean up, I can scout the place, so I'll know where I'll be going during the night game.

I talked with Nuke and he seemed to think that some of the debris should be left, I agree with him for the most part but think we should do a sweep of the place for those un-common danger points, we also need to find a ladder to use in the barn and also one for the roof-top on the houses.
Title:
Post by: Frenzy on August 05, 2002, 09:01:47 PM
A night game sounds great. I'm not really available either date, but I could probably make excuses. As long as a date is actually set more than a week in advance you can count on me attending.
Title:
Post by: BlackArrow on August 05, 2002, 11:46:27 PM
where exactly is the barn and what is it? I'm familiar with the area but are you talking about the silo type thing or the area we sometimes park the cars under?

About the only thing we really need to clear debris from would be the inside of the house's like sweep them etc, and anywhere that we have a solid surface with nails on it. Otherwise I think plywood and other barriers should be left alone.

Nuke since it appears that you are "large and in charge" of the game the 30th what is gonna be the rules of engagment? pistols only? House to house? or feild play? Also time you wnat people there to help clear the AO and time for the fun to begin?

If you need a ladder I have a alumminium extension ladder that can be used, But what else is needed for the game???

That ladder would rock, but honestly, i dont think that much cleaning needs to take place. Its not a dangerous location for the most part. I'm more worried about getting hurt @ jackrabbit then i am @ the ranch.

ROE will vary w/ the game, but i plan to have at least a couple pistol only games (or pistols for those who have them and a aeg with only one standard cap, for those without).

also some limited ammo games.. like only having standard caps or appx. 200 rounds in a hicap.

not to worry, this time i will plan scenarios based on large or small #'s of people, not only plan for big showings, and have to make up new ones for a small game, like last time.

I don't know how dark it will get out there, but it might also be fun to have some games that are based on stealth rather than all out assault.
Title:
Post by: nukeduster on August 12, 2002, 07:08:25 PM
That's what night games are about! Sneaking around in the dark, the enemy not knowing where the bullets are comming from. Well, cept in my case, where I'll be using a tracer unit w/ tracer rounds.

Also note: if you have any big lights, like for an outpost or safe zone bring them. We are out there far enough that the light that will be visible, will for the most part be generated by our equipment. With the exception of maybe a few street lights.

tell ya'll what, since no one seems to know for sure how dark it will be I'll cruz down there this week(end) after dark and take a looksy. I'll take one for the team since I live oh... 5minutes from there!

As to
quote:
if you have any big lights

what do you want? I have a halogen work lamp but no genorator or inverter to power it at the ranch. But! how about an ol "Hurricane" Lamp? You know the ones that run of Karosene (spelling???) won't be bright but it would mark the "safe area" pretty well.

Who knows maybe I'll drive past there and I'll find that several light still work (doubtful yes, but crazier things have happened)

Elf the "Ranch" sits on state land.

I have one (that I know works) or two of those "Auto work lamps" I'll bring them and the halogen work lamp. If Ishbo or Bulldog can bring a generator(great cover noise!) we'll be set for the "saftey" zone.

Thats the point of an overnight game, is because its cold. Comparably to the day at least. I think that it could be really cool, even if to just camp out and wake up and have one last game before calling it a day.

OR, since we are all out there that far, when we wake up, we could eat breakfast, then go over ot jackrabbit trail, have a couple games there in the early morning, then call it quits.

Ok, made a drive by the ranch last night and went walking around at my place (over by 339th ave). And BOY what a sight! with the light off of the Nuke plant and the Moon (sets currently around midnight and is at the half full stage, Full will be on the 22nd) it might as well be early morning. According to the calendar the moon will be waining at the half stage come the 30th so it should be fairly bright out there, still think the lighted "safe area" would be a good Idea. But shouldn't be any troubles finding your way around.

Just a thought to anyone that is interrested....There is abig group of us going up on the rim from the 30th (Friday) till the 1st (Sunday) and be coming home in the afternoon. We are playing a little airsoft day and night and having a piggy roast on Saturday night. If you fill like doing some camping and shooting. let me know and I'll get you a map to the place that we will be at. photobyjason@cox.net It is off the 260 out of Payson on road 99. We will be in a nice place with both trees and big medows.

The advantage would be cooler weather!

How many people have NVGs? Does anyone, would be a better question? Just curious.

I'm planning on having this game last for appx 4-5 hours from the time we actually start. After that, do people wish to camp out and continue in the morning for a couple morning games? General consensus?

So far no one has. There will be about 30 people that will be there.
Only 4 of us play airsoft. This is to answer the question that someone emailed me earlier.

i'm only 16 and my mom is kind worried that something is going to happen to me out there.

If you can provide any info on who is going to be there, how many people is gonna be there, and if there will be a 1st aid kit there.

yeah it sound like my mom is pover protective, but she just doesn't like the sound of people shooting eachother. I'll shoot her one day just to show her that it doesn't hurt... that bad... !

But yeah, Just give me all the B/S(bullsh*t) about how safe it will be up there... that would be great!

Do you own a rifle of some sort? IT is fairly safe given that you follow the safety guidelines. Basically dont shoot if you can tag( if you are relaly close, in other words), dont blind fire, dont do stupid things, dont aim for the face if at all possible, wear full face protection if worried about getting hurt, wear long sleeves if worried about getting hurt, and have fun. That, and no guns over 400 fps. Otherwise, have fun.

Well It is all I'm bringing, and at night you don't want to be spraying and praying least yu commit the ultimate act of treason to your team "fratrcide!" But in all honestly at the ranch I think a GBB or a springer is prob more than enough gun for a night game. Of course ol Nukeduster is the one that seams to be "large and in charge" of this game and I don't know what type of games he has planned.

Gbbs work great, even in aeg games. Ive gone more then once with only a gbb and done fine, and with the games planned, and being night, a pistol will be great, and even better sometimes, then a full sized rifle (specially for shooting around corners thru windows)..

DIRECTIONS(stolen from nick, thanks man :) -

Take the I-10West to 411th Ave, which is exit 94. (It is a good distance out
there, so expect about an hour to an hour and a half driving time.) After
taking exit 94, make a left turn so you're heading south. This is 411th
ave - Take it south and when it meets the Salome highway (which isn't marked
well) take the left fork and it's the first set of buildings on the right.

Some of us are camping out, so anyone who wants to stay the night and have a couple morning/mid afternoon games, feel free!

Hey all the game sounds great but i seem to be
running in to trouble finding a ride.
any help would be nice

<Gust>

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

Does anyone who is going to this game have an AEG inner barrel that you wouldn't mind selling me? I just got my M4 short barrel, and didnt have time to get a spare inner barrel to chop down. If you have one, email me please, it doesn't even have to be for the M4.

Meet at the ranch itself, at 9pm sharp. Hopefully myself and bulldog and the rest of my team will make it first so that we can already have the generator and lights up and running by the time people show up.

No, we arent lighting up the whole place, just a small "safe zone".

Is anyone who is attending this game fluent with the TM Benelli? I have one with a slight jamming problem, and I would appricieate it if someone could take a look at it.

Thanks

Just a last minute clarification on the rules:

No blind firing randomly around corners. If you feel like you must do so, please tell someone so that they may shoot you point blank in the face so you may experience what blind firing feels like and accomplishes. I realize this is going to happen alot anyways, since its not only cqb, but night, but just be careful.

No full auto guns over 400 fps.
No bolt action/single shooters over 500.
No pistols over 400.

Just wanted to clarify those two points, as I have been asked a few times what the FPS limits are, and dont enjoy getting shot in the face, pointblank.

Other then that, lets have fun. I dont like to sound like a rules lawyer, or anything of the sort, so lets go out and kick some âne(pardon my french).

See you ladies at 2100 hrs. Hope you get some sleep during the day.

Also note, I forgot to post, yes, the authorities have been notified, both of the fact that we will be playing tonight @ the ranch, and the possibility of it being overnight, with games in the morning either there OR jackrabbit trail. So we shouldnt have any probs with either plan.

uhh, this game has already happened... Check the title of the post again.

Its ok to love your AEG, just don't love your AEG.two first time players, who we all wanted to remain with the other four of us. As far as night games go, the lights definately contributed to it. I enjoyed being able to use my surefire as weapon, and doing just as much damage with it as I did with my airsoft weapons. Though it would be difficult, it would be neat to have teams seperated according to filters placed on their lights, with maybe one blue team and one red team, so when a light goes off you could use that to figure out where your team is. Of course, that would eliminate all of that wonderful confusion, which I found to be a lot of fun.

Who was going to finish the joke about how many airsofters it takes to kill a rattlesnake?

Title: August 30th game, ranch, 9PM
Post by: nukeduster on August 04, 2002, 10:40:05 AM
Hey, I was just thinking about it, and talked about it a bit with the guys @ yesterdays game, and well..here is what I am thinking. On aug. 23rd (friday) have a game @ tonopah (the ranch) at around 9pm. Have it go til people are tired.

People keep wanting to do a night game, and tonopah seems to be the tamest of the locations that we play at (in that there are no sudden drop offs, etc), so I thought it would be a good choice for a night game.

Input?

Fighting terrorism is like being a goalkeeper. You can make a hundred brilliant saves but the only shot that people remember is the one that gets past you.
