It is not really much to it. I consulted a financial planner, lawyer, and insurance broker to find out exactly how to develop an event in which airsoft could be used as a tool but not the main focus.

About 6 months ago Hector and I started working on a project for teamwork and leadership development in youth organizations and corporate leadership program. With our combined background it seemed only logical. So we started www.teamxl.us.

Airsoft is in a unique position, because there are not any ASTM regulations regarding airsoft equipment. This brings up two issues:

1. We should never even use to word paintball in describing airsoft.
2. By rotating the focus to teambuilding and leadership training, we can offer a structure that insurances are more interested in. Education is easier to insure than sports. It is a very thin line at times, but then it can be very broad. Basically we have to make certain compromises in order to achieve a balance between education and play. Therefore TeamXL will sponsor the event from a business liability point of view.

There are many rough edges to this project. And we will do our best to develop and protect everyone as much as possible. But more importantly, it is in the interest of everyone at the event to set a 100% positive, professional, and honorable attitude regardless of the situation. We all represent airsoft the moment we set foot on the field and our future is in everyone's hands.

We would like to get teams to get together and register, but we understand that many are not on teams yet so go ahead and sign up, just don't put down a team on the registration and we will help you get organized. We want to give everyone the chance to play.

Mark clarified it for me at the AA game.  As it was originally posted, I misunderstood the "insurance" mentioned to be liability insurance.  Mark clarified that it was NOT liability insurance he was getting, but rather insurance to use the land and protect the land from any damage that may result from it being used.

It's called gerneral liability.

Anyway, We only have room for 8 more people so I have been asked to extend the deadline for payment to 1 Mar 2003. If you have any questions feel free to call me at 602.435.7508

Mark,

Most of my team and I have signed up to attend.  I'm really stoked, but I do have a question.  If you sign up for a particular discipline, will you be able to have some training in the others?  Case in point, I signed up for the Sniper/Scout, but would like some training also in CQB. I watched your video from the training you did last year and it looked like a blast.
Thanks,

Far

Far,

We won't be doing CQB at this event. This will be a field type of event with corresponding training to include: Sniper, Ranger, Leadership courses.

Geezs, Fatal Exception if out in force. We have 8 of you guys registered. Everything seems to be going well the Cadre and OPFOR are training every weekend and thing are looking good. OPFOR waxed us last weekend using Soviet tactics. They are getting the uniforms too so it look pretty cool seeing them in Soviet Camo.

We shall definitely be there.  By the way, will we be camping?  Also, my team was asking me if there would be toilet facilities.  I figured if there aren't, I'll just have them dig latrines.  [:D]

Well, there is only room for one more four man team. There will be a yahoogroup made for everyone registered for the event so that any questions can be answered.

We'll see you on the field.
