M1 Carbine isnt even semi - auto..its bolt cocked each shot.
M1 Garand is full blowback and semi-auto.

Thats probably why its like  a price difference of nearly 200$ between the two.
But if Im willing to accept that fact, and Im thinkin that semi-auto garand wont be much use with only 8 rounds to fire in semi auto before reload, I would eat the rounds unexpectedly fast.

Im thinkin that M1 carbine being slower firing, and have more rounds in clip.. might be better.
and heck if I get a scope mount for it (something I dont think they have for Garand) it makes one hell of a badass sniper.

any other reasons other than not being semi - auto, not to get it? or experiences or whatnot...thanks =)

If you want the M1 Carbine style... wait for Marushin to release their M2 Carbine.  It will be gas blowback, and have, if translated properly, both semi and full auto.

Anyone not think the M1 Carbine would make a great starter gun?

Yes I think the M1 carbine would NOT make a good starter gun (not just because I KB'd one last week). That is like turning 16 and picking a 57 chevy as your first car. Get an M4 variant with a lot of mags and come out to games, nobody cares how cool your gun is if you cant play well with it.

You could alwalys buy a real steel m1 garand scope (c or d models) and be a vietnam sniper.... Vietnam gear isnt too hard to track down... THe scope for a m1garand is off set too, so you could still iron site it...

well ill have a marushin M1 Garand probably sometime  next week or week after and ill let you all know how it is im getting it from dentrinityshop along with 4 mags and bb's but it kinda sucks dentrinity doesnt sell gas anymore or something becuase i couldnt find any on the site so im probably gunna run over to one of the JT stores and see if they got any hfc134a. From what i've read on this forum so far im guessing AA has no problem with 8mm BB's.

I think its fine, as long as you arent engaging people with 8mm bbs at 370 fps from 5 feet away.

awesome yeah i wont use this for CQB and it only shoots 270FPS unless you buy an upgrade or something i forget what site had it advertised i think it was probably redwolf. The upgrade will make it shoot 330 with hfc22.

Actually, I would go with that upgrade. 330 FPS really isn't that much. How much do we play CQB here anyway?

I'm gathering from what you have stated, you have recieved the item? How is the range? Is it fun to shoot?

Well if you can upgrade it for hfc22, then i just might buy one too. I plan to get mostly hfc22 guns (so i can use propane). I wanted one of these originally but didnt want to keep buyin hfc134a.

No I dont have it yet I got that FPS rating from a review the guy that bought it said he consistantly rated it at 274 FPS. I'm getting mmost my info from this review http://www.airsoftcanada.com/archive/in ... 20802.html I just ordered it today and i chose airmail so I'm guessing maybe by friday. It really annoys me that nobody so far has stated a range for it this airsoft canada review i read was based off of the guns performance inside the guys basement and not outside becuase he ordered it in the winter and the gun would get too cold to shoot.

It finally arrived yesterday, it is probably the most solid and bueatifully made gun I have ever owned, all the sites front and rear are extremely easy to adjust and everything comes swimming in oil. The bolt operation is very smooth and makes a lot of noise when cocking it. I did have some problems with it right away though which is really dissapointing, the first issue is the hop up, it is extremely sensitive and I made the stupid desicion to try to adjust it. It fired extremely well right out of the box with great range but once I adjusted the hopup the range went out the window it went from a good 60ft. to about 2ft. I tried as hard as I could to get it back to where it was but I still havn't been able to fix it. So I went a different route I had found some reviews before I bought it that had said to not listen to what the sites say and use green gas instead of hfc134a, the gun would be able to withstand more powerful gas as long as the internal screws were all extremely tight (which I ended up dealing with later today). I brought the gun down to the jungle toy in tempe and was test firing it with green gas and after a few shots the bolt slide started jumping out of the chamber. So I opened it up and tightened all the screws and it worked fine again. I eventually unscrewed all the screws that were loosening themselves and put lock tight on them and scewed them back in as hard as I could and now it works perfect, and is very loud. The upgrade to a new gas also fixed my range and now my hopup works better, its not as sensitive. I'm almost positive that nothing is going to get destroyed becuase the entire gun except for the wooden parts is made of of steel and iron, it is extremely strong and very heavy. Servicing the gun through all of this was very easy becuase the gun breaks down into three pieces, the trigger assembly pops out by pulling down on the back of the trigger guard, and the rest of the gun comes apart in two pieces by loosening one screw in the butt of the gun. The gas resevoir is also nice and big and the most clips I've shot out so far is 5 without having to fill it again. Marushin did install a bolt catch system so that the slide doesnt slam down on your thumb but it doesnt always work, I've almost caught my thumb a couple of times. I like the gun alot and once I fine tune the hopup and adjust the sites it will be a very good primary or secondary weapon becuase I still have my FAMAS. Here are some pictures.

That guy's review said that he used HFC22 gas in it. Did he say anything against using Green or red gas. Because if it wouldn't damage the seals, or destroy the bolt, you could probably bypass the upgrade and jump to the higher FPS no problem.

HFC22 is green gas.

I was just about to say that...

What is red gas though? hfc22 under higher pressure or somthing? (ive seen a few sites that said hfc22 green and the nhfc22 red so thats why i ask).

Hfc22 is alos just propane (http://www.airsoft-innovations.com/inde ... d=greengas)
