Getting a 33E to use standard g3 mags
« on: February 25, 2005, 11:14:59 PM »
I was trying to figure out a way to get a CA33E to use standard G3 Mags. I wanted to know if anyone knows whether a G3 metal body can fit a 33E.

Also, would that mean changing out the hopup?

As I recall the 33E is a .223 caliber weapon whereas the G3 is a .308.  Totally different magazines.  Sure you coulld probably get it to work after you totally rework the magwell to accept the mag and then totally f-up your gun.  Why not just buy a G3 or an HK51 model instead???

Well regardless of the caliber, we're fitting airsoft parts together here, not real guns (get your mind out of reality). I was thinking of trying to fit a g3 metal body to a 33e front end. I have already asked some people from AEX about it and they said it was feasible, but only with a g3 stock.

I just liked the length of the 33E barrel. I also love the look of the g3 reciever, as well as the feel. I was thinking of turning it into some kind of sniper rifle (> 400 FPS). I didn't much care for the length of the sg1 or other conventional sniper rifles avalible on the airsoft market.

I know it's airsoft yellowboy... unfortunately for you their modeled after REAL guns and therefor the mags and magwells are the same.  Now if you're going to spend the freaking money to buy a new metal body and turn it into a G3 then why don't you just sell it and buy a G3 and cut the barrel down???   In the end it's going to cost you almost as much as buyin a new AEG anyway.

Or....you could just buy 33E standard mags that classic army recently released. That is alot easier than doing anything you guys have suggested.

Are you trying to make an MC51-type gat, ym?  If so, would it be possible to simply switch the lower recievers out?  I don't know much about HK-style airsoft guns, so I can't give you much help but I would imagine that, unless you can simply swap the lowers, you are looking at alot of work.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

Exactly... the look and feel of the G3. I think the mags for the 33E just kill any external beauty, but I like the looks of the rest of the gun (barrel length, foregrip, grips, and stock).

P.S. Has anyone seen star's next project: http://www.starairsoft.com/Large/SAA_M14_1_L.jpg

Those guys keep at it.

SOPMOD, actually. :P   In addition to the pricing, I am curious as to whether they will offer a Troy Ind. Suppressor to go with it.

And I wonder if STAR will start making some 30 rounders for it also!
