Multicam VS. Marpat
« on: October 06, 2011, 07:44:00 AM »
alright so i am going to the surplus store to pick up some gear (like pants and a jacket) and i cant decide between woodland marpat or multicam. One of my buddies already has Marpat soooo idk yet multicam seems like it would blend in a lot better. I play at fightertown sometimes. And dont be bringing up the fact that i should get Marpat because the Marines use it and tat they are better than the Army. thats not the case here im looking for which would be the better one for lending into the envirorment. I am open to any other camo options to.

I've been using desert marpat for a while now and it works pretty good.

Multicam seems to work better for games that are in washes that have some greenish vegetation. Desert marpat is (i think) the best for all terrains down here in the valley since its mostly brown and tan :P

Well since this is arizona and most of the good events happen down in the valley, desert marpat works well. But have you considered ATACS? its kind of a more organic style of digital, curves instead of blocks. The stuff i've seen works amazingly, but I don't know how much it costs. Multicam works rather well for everything, but it's generally more expensive, and it isn't as well suited to the specific types of camo. I think of it as the jack of all trades.

I have Woodland Marpat, Desert Marpat and Multicam. They all work well here in AZ depending on the terrain. Down in the valley Desert Marpat is usually better than Multicam. If you're up in Flagstaff, Prescott or somewhere in the mountains most of the time Woodland Marpat or Multicam work better.

Should I get woodland or multicam is not a question you should ask cause they are for different terrain. Get the one that works for were you play.

I use desert marpat accented with random lines and splotches from a brown krylon spray can.

Marpat and Multicam are already outdated.  You should take a look at A-TACS

Y'know, at the engagement distances we play, and the pace of most games, really, camo plays such a small part.
Unless you have some period-specific gear fetish, wear what ever is cheap and sturdy.

This, remember that airsoft is a game, not real combat. I really think we need to rid ourselves of the myth that x camo pattern will make you invisible or whatever is generally believed these days. I'm going to be wearing multicam at Cold Burn II but at CQB distances, its ability to conceal you is nil.

I've had issues with mine. For the price, the stitching isn't great and the bottom tightening nylon isn't great either. Mine slipped and cause a hole to tear. Too tight and it won't come off, yet too loose and it falls off. It also doesn't breathe that well. My german stuff never got as hot as this stuff does.  Just wear what you want. You're the one that has to use it.

thats because most here dont know how to quickly blend in with the environment i ve seen plenty of times where people are within 10 feet of someone in low lying grass about 12-14 inches tall and they just keep looking and never knew better.

woodland marpat and multicam are imo among the best but i havent tried atacs yet
