Looking for battery pack for ICOM ?
« on: March 01, 2006, 08:20:30 PM »
I've recently purchase 2 ICOM F4S radios.  One of them doesn't seem to be able to hold a charge for longer than a few minutes.  The low battery indicator begins to blink and then loses the ability to transmit.

I'm not sure if it may have picked up a "memory" or just needs to be replaced outright....

If anyone owns an ICOM or knows what I should do I'd appreciate the input.  Also, if there is a cheap place to pick up a battery pack, I'd like to know.  Online they seem to run between 30.00 and 40.00 USD.

Thanks guys.

Well, I just put the radio back on the charger and it is taking a long time now to charge (versus just a few minutes initialy), so maybe the battery is okay.

We'll have to see.

I emailed Tom, the radio guy that Shado bought his from, and this is what he wrote back:

Hi there,

Yes, indeed, you do need a new battery.  Lucky for you, I stock really good quality hi capacity Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries with 1650 mAh capacity.  Excellent battery for the Icom.  The standard Icom battery is 1050 mAh, so this replacement battery will give you over 60% more capacity.  Since you are a return customer, I'll give you the "family discount" and let you have it for $42.50, which is a 10% discount off the standard list price.  You cannot find a better  battery for your Icom at any price!

If you're interested, PayPal me $42.50 plus $4.50 shipping to tomohlsson@gmail.com and I'll ship it out the same day.

Thanks for contacting me, and thank you for your repeat business, it means a lot to me.
