They look pretty damn happy for not having their father and husband around...Well I thought there were other recipients of the MOH already? I guess im mistaken though.

There were some other nominees, but not recipients.

That is the first for this war. I'm sure they're happy becuase he is getting honored for falling in combat as he did.

Gary Gordon and Randall Shughart were the last MOH recipients, 12 years ago.

Why they kept referring to him as "Sgt." rather than SFC confounds me.  I guess we can chalk that one up to less-than-knowing reporters.  At least they didn't call it the CONGRESSIONAL MOH, or say that he "won" it.

yes, this is true. A ton were given out during the vietnam conflict, werent there?

My friends great grandpa recieved one in world war two for single handedly taking down 2 MG nests to get to some wounded camrades, and was wounded(but survived!!!) in the process. At least that is my understanding of the incident, there might be more, or maybe less, not sure.

245 were awarded in the Vietnam era.
