« on: March 07, 2012, 10:20:48 PM »
I have been debating on rather or not to get lights for my pistol. What does everyone else think?

If you play at night I'd rather go all lights out... If you are ever at an event like cold burn, I saw guys using lights when clearing the buildings, you're moving from bright desert immediately to dark room and a light might be helpful....

it would be in that senario. but not on a pistol. most are awkward to turn on and off. and may take you away form the trigger when needed most. use a light and pressure switch on you main gun. on pistols its not effective or worth it. imo

Lol I don't think I'll ever plan on running on a light other than for the tacticool factor, but just putting another idea out there! ;D And a lot of those pistol specific lights have a nice lever you can switch on and off with your trigger finger.

The lever is a good set up one side is momentary   and the other is  a on off switch. And at CB2 I hated that I didn't have a light  and I had smoked lenses

Obviously you haven't fiddled with a streamlight TRL-1.. its got the switch next to the trigger guard.  I run one and it's pretty sweet.

I am a gear whore from what my team tells me. I have flashlights for rifle and pistol. Never use light on pistol because hard to find a holster to fit it. I have the blackhawk strike holster that fits on my vest. And only used my rifle light one time at vanguard. But it is your choice!

I've got a TLR-1 on both my Glock 18c and USP Tactical, works great.

I can agree with that, at CB2 we were defending the the 3 story building when 2 US humvees rolled up to the door and guys started piling out so we closed the windows and barricaded the door. After everything was shut I was walking around like a blind drunk trying to find my way to the other side. Even a small handheld light is a good thing to have on your kit.

What ever you decide, don't get an airsoft specific light (UTG / King Arms etc). They're trash. If you need a light for room clearing when you go from bright outdoor conditions to dim indoor conditions (and especially if you have smoke lenses), I'd humbly suggest getting a rifle (primary) mounted flashlight.

Now, you can actually get a TLR1 / 2 (or if you want to show off, an x300), which is shaped for a pistol, but still mount it to your rifle rail. This gives you more options than if you went the other way and got a weapon light designed for a rifle mount, since you can't put that on a pistol.

Plus you won't have to find a holster than can accept lights - you can just (for what ever reason) pull off the light from your rifle and put in on the pistol if you need weapon maneuverability.

Heck, you could even *make* your own holster for a light bearing pistol. Just get some kydex, look up some videos on youtube, and you can make your own holster for any pistol.

There's also the Tornado holster that is designed to hold pistols with attachments. Fits my Desert Eagle with laser just fine.
