Maybe you have a specific goal in mind, but my advice is to not think that certain things must be upgraded merely because they are stock and aftermarket parts exist.

I've mentioned this before but I'll expand on it a bit for others.

Stock 5 years ago meant something completely different than what stock means today.  5 years ago stock parts were looked upon by most as mediocre for higher velocities. Many would spend money to add upgraded parts such as a slightly stronger spring, piston/head/cylinder head, bushings, hop up etc. These items were an investment in the gun to increase it's life.  Now days, many stock guns all ready come with all this stuff, thus you get more for your buck than the days of old.  Do some research and know what it is you are gettting for your money, that means internal and external.  Just don't upgrade because these items are called stock. By all means they are upgraded items.

one more quick question, how do you take off the flash hider on the CA M15A4?  I see a small hex screw on the bottom of the barrel that I assume holds on the FH.  The problem is, cant get the hex screw to budge so I'm wondering if I'm doing it wrong.  thanks

Sounds like you got it right. Loosen or remove the set screw, and unscrew the flash hider from the barrel. Many barrels have counter-clockwise threading though, so try "righty loosey".

Here's a question. I'm working on peicing together an MP-5 SD from old boneyard parts. I'm probably going to have to get a barrel and wanted to know what the longest I can put in it would be (using the stock Silencer Front end).

229mm is stock, a 300mm would be a good fit but might require a slight amount of trimming.

ok jsut fond this thread, and I have a quickie abotu some upgrades.

I have a TM g36c with a tightbore, 120 spring, and a 9.6v batt.

What should be next on my list? motor, gears, ect ect.

she shoots right around 390-400fps.  I would like to go to a speed motor, but it may be overkill.  with a full charge she shoots about 17bps.  I would like 30 or so, but again it may be overkill.

anyone know how to disable full auto on a GR-16? i wanna use it as an exclusive sniper gun and full auto is pretty damn cheap. Plus is are the internals up to par to house a 120 spring?

Well if you feel like unloading a low cap in 1-2 seconds, go ahead (I personally don't feel like using a magazine on one guy).  The only thing that might be a problem would be that you must have it shimmed right or else your gears will be toast.

I just got the gun and have yet to rip her apart.  Thats slated for this week when I have time.  I wanted to do a good cleaning anyways.

I dont use low cap mags.  Mine are 140rds which is about 15-17sec of fire.  I keep it on full auto, but with good trigger control I keep it at 2-3rd bursts.  I would like however to drop the FPS alittle, maybe 20fps to keep me in the safe zone and not getting kicked off the field for having a hot gun.

So what do you suggest for upgrades?

Maybe you should swap that 120 spring for a 110 instead, you don't need more fps, you need to adjust your tactics.

im not a spray and pray type of guy.  I just found that its more reliable on full-auto than on semi.  On semi I have occasional jams and miss-feeds.  I'm a sneaky bastard and like to get close to my prey. lol

The reason I got it was to use it as a backup/CQC gun when I get my PSG-1.
