M4 RIS issue
« on: November 09, 2007, 02:42:56 PM »
I can't not figure this thing out, I've never had to dismantle a M4.

I got a M4 CQBR but the front assembly and barrel were wobbling. The wobble is coming where the body meets the barrel/RIS. I can't seem to figure out how to remove the RIS unit to get to it. There are no screws or spings that are visible. I'm thinking it just isn't tightened down.

I already have the gun apart I just can't seem to get to it.

Is it a handguard replacement or a free float tube?

If it's a free float unit, you should be able to unscrew it.  Once you have that off, use an AR armorers wrench to tighten the ring.  That will press the barrel up against the receiver.

You mean a screw driver+pliers as a hammer?

I fixed it. The gun had a part the instructions didn't show which threw me off. When you guys said free float I saw the problem. Thanks for the help.
