Poll: PALS or ALICE?
« on: March 29, 2005, 11:41:58 PM »
Sans bullsh*t, let's see what the preferred kit is around these parts!  If you don't know what PALS or ALICE means, you are a communist that has been living under a rock for the last decade!

Feel free to NOT post any discussion, this is just a poll.  After all, I didn't ask you to explain your answer. . .

Which is why I am so surprised to see 7 votes for ALICE!

Unless, that is, someone has cheated...

Im still kinda attached to my LCE set up just cause weve been through so much together and shes set up just the way I want her.

That said, I voted PALS all the way! I have yet to find a rig that does exactly what i want it too, but ive only tried 3, and the options just keep growing.

I can relate to the nostalgia of the LC2. I feel that way about both it and my Issak (or what's left of it) but I think the pals/molle system is the way of the future. Especially considering budget issues, modularity is the way to go. The LC2 just didn't have the kind of flexability that the Pals is developing.

So what does that have to do with PALS or ALICE gear?

ALICE is good except for that damn ruck frame. I can get the VN era stuff dirt cheap, too.
Want "civil war?" -try that kit from Korea, circa 1950...

PALS is the new ALICE. They are just moddable gear platforms that the military has come out with. ALICE utilizes a utility belt and you connect all of your pouches and crap on to it with metal clips. There are also suspenders that you use to keep them up, but they are pretty uncomfortable.

PALS/MOLLE is the new wave. MOLLE has more pouches to use, and more places for them. In general, MOLLE rigs have full chest moddability :P. MOLLE is superior to ALICE in that it distributes weight much more evenly over a larger area. MOLLE also has quite a bit more pouches and things to keep all your gear in one place.
