Legally it will take you four years to save up for that AEG.  Airsoft has a minimum legal age of 18.

Wizzing Bullets, or in this case BB's is not the total picture.  Airsoft is not just about running around and shooting your buddies.  It's about training, disipline, team work, dedication, all those things that would be required of you if you were in the armed forces.  Shooting your gun is only part of the big picture.

It's the fun part of the big picture [:D], but like legs said you might just want to wait until your 18.

There's no need to wait, since there are many younger players out there having regular games.  I just wanted to point out that it's not just about running around shooting people.  Save up your money and if your parents are OK with buying it for you then it's up to you to be responsible enough to treat your new AEG with respect and to use it wisely.  Don't go shooting the neighbors cat or things like that.  Get into some organized games and most of all be patient.  Play safe...Play smart!

Push the envelope, we all lose the sport.  "Illegal to purchase" is a hair's width away from "Illegal to possess."  Airsoft is already being targeted.  Why fuel the fire?

i would say a good package is anything that you like that comes with a battery and cahrger. for $287 you can get an M4 RIS (Rail system and fore grip like the RAS) for $287. Internally, they are all exactly the same. It depends on what you want it to look like! Be responsible, and dont brandish your gun in public. I had it out in front of my house shooting at my garage, and a cop pulled up and asked me what i was doing. i told him, and he was interested, and most likley eventually got into the sport, and told his police buddies about it!

Or most likely he went back to the Precinct and told his boss to get the word out to outlaw the guns since they are so realistic...

This stuff must stop.  I cringe every time I hear about irresponsible behavior like this.  These forums are full of it.  Playing in homes that are under construction, playing in back yards, playing within City limits without any specific permissions, shooting in the front yard...

maybe meeting a few guys like, Legs, Harley, and me to name a few would do you young guys some good!  I understand it really sounds like fun, but what we are trying to recreate here when we play airsoft is Military action.  If you are only 14, I also think you should wait.  I always see kids buying Soft Air guns (crossman springers, and mini electrics) at Sports Authority, and other sporting goods stores when I go there.  It takes everything I have inside to stop myself from walking over and questioning them.  "Do you have proper eye protection?  Where will you play?  You aren't going to paint the tip are you?  You know it's illegal for you to have these if youre under 18?"  I want to ask them these, and other questions.  And safety is a huge issue for me also with these younger players.  They have no idea what Airsoft is about beyond backyard "wars" with 5 of their pals.  They think its about shooting each other in the yard.  It is so much more than that.  Just the other day, I was in Wal-Mart, ans saw this girl and her mom buying a buch of workshop goggles (the clear plastic type for saw-dust and such).  The cashier questioned them as to what all these would be used for and the girl said, to my horror, "my little brothers friends are coming over to play airsoft and they need goggles"!!  I almost died!  I knew damn well that those goggles are not adequate safety devices for airsoft, but I did not say anything.  I should have.  Read what Harley posted above.  You can learn alot from these guys here, take their advice!  Your enthusiasm is healthy, it keeps you off drugs.  I have a hard time though, giving you my blessing.  My common sense tells me that boys will be boys, and no matter how mature you are for your age, you are still 14.  I was 14 once, I bet even Legs was too.  The temptation to push your boundaries coupled with a new, fully-aoutmatic bb gun will lead to nothing but trouble.  I understand it all sounds like a great time, but your not ready for it at 14.  Give yourslef at least a few more years, and if your parents ok it, bring them to the games with you.  Why do you think there are age liomits in this, and other airsoft groups?  FOR YOUR SAFETY!  We all go to games to have fun, not worry about kids.  Don't get me wrong, I do not mean you any disrespect whatsoever!  I simply  wish to preserve this sport for us who have earned the right to play it.  You will understand when you are 21 at an AA game, and a 14 wants to join.  You might say the same thing to him.  Best wishes,
CAG
Ps  Now that you have finished reading this post, you have probably aged about 2 years, lol

Good post azsarge.  You and Legs should get together and write a book.  I've told him many times that I wish I could write as articulately as he does.  You seem to have the same talent.  I'll just stick to my same old blunt and to the point style I guess.

You guys crack me up. I say, keep it safe. That's all I can say, really. I'm under 18 myself, and I've had quite a few airsoft guns. I'm out of it for a while, though. The reason I can't say anything more than "keep it safe" is that, no matter what I say to you, you can still go buy the dang thing. If I say "Don't buy it, you're not old enough," but your parents are OK with it, you're still going to get one. So whatever you choose to do, please keep it safe and steer clear of situations that may ruin things for the rest of us.

As for myself, I've quit for a while so I can save for my pilot's license and a few real-steel goodies in a few months (not to mention put work in on my car). [:D]
