A green gas rig will have the same problem that a CO2 rig will, you'll experience rapid cool-down on full auto.

A compressed air (scuba) rig or a nitrogen rig would work best. You could use a KWC rig if you want, they're available from www.airsoftpaintballs.com (http://www.airsoftpaintballs.com), and that will screw green gas cans onto your gun.  Keep in mind your seals will wear out with green gas.

It would be ideal to use a compressed air rig with a low pressure regulator.  You should know the ideal operating pressures for your gun, which depends on whether it is stock or not.

How did you happen to come across a JAC MP5, and if you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost?

Ninja - So will the KWC seals wear out or the JAC ones?  I'd imagine
the KWC seals would be easy to replace.  Would lube prevent
the wear?  I also believe the gun is stock.

Kamikaze - I stumbled upon it on Airsoft Zone and basically stole it
from the guy for $150 in used condition with no box or
           manuals.

Ok I had a complete post but a server error lost it.

So to summarize:

The KWC setup will plug into your existing external line built into the gun.  The problem with the KWC rig will be that it uses green gas, which will wear out your o-rings, etc. Like any Japanese gas gun.  You could replace the o-rings and try something more durable, like ones made of viton or teflon, but you don't really wan't to strip your gun down if you have no manual.

Check classicairsoft.com for info on gas rigs.

Classic Airsoft was the first place I went to for info.  This is my first forray into any type of externally supplied gun.  I'd really love to do a green gas rig because as I understand, putting together any other kind of rig is going to cost more than I am willing to commit to a gun that is really not going to see extensive firing.

So if a green gas rig is going to be damaging, do I have any other options that will cost me under $100?  Everything I have read basically indicates that I would have to build my own rig, something that I would rather avoid due to my lack of experience in the field of gas guns.

There are alternatives to building your own rig, there are manufactured regulators for airsoft guns from Japan, but they are not under $100, if you could even get them.

Now that my SD is almost here, I began looking for mags and realized that I have not been able to get on to classicairsoft.com for a while.  Does anyone know where the site moved to?

There is just something about the uzi mystique that says I am so bad that I don't even have to aim, and you are going to die.

You'll be very lucky to find mags, and from my recollection classicairsoft.com never had JAC MP5 mags.

I think they were just switching servers.

After about a month of waiting, the thing has finally come.  I am not sure what the mag is supposed to look like, but it seems in pretty bad shape.  In other words, I doubt it works.  I don't want to buy a rig for it only to find that the gun does not work, so is there anyone here who could look at it and tell me if it is functional?

I have a pretty good idea of what it should look like if you want to send me pictures.

1.    Ninjas are mammals.
2.    Ninjas fight ALL the time.
3.    The purpose of the ninja is to flip out and kill people.

How did you make out with this gun Yankee?  Do you still have it or did you sell it?  I'm curious as to whether or not you've been able to shoot it and if you came up with a gas rig for it.

Yankee is either in NJ or NY right now, but I do know how it turned out. He traded it for a used (with foam-lined gearbox) AUG Military with 2 extra standard mags. He never bought a rig for it, and never shot it. How do I know this, you ask? I just bought the AUG from him <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>.

Thanks Cyphen, it's too bad.  I would have liked to see how it performed.  Hope you like the Aug.

Title: JAC SD Rig
Post by: Yankee on January 13, 2002, 09:49:14 PM
I recently aquired a JAC Mp5SD and would like to know what kind of rig I need to get it shooting.  Is there some sort of KWC gas connector I can use, or do I have buy an expensive paintball rig?  I have heard that the JAC Uzi will take the KWC rig, but the JAC MAC 10 needs some sort of 8mm hose.  If anyone has any experience with these guns, let me know.
