Well....ACOG is (was?) an acronym from my days back in GA its the Atlanta Coalition for the Olympic Games.  Just remembered that for some reason.

I agree no serious names should be used.  I always laugh at all the "TEAM DELTA FORCE!!!!!" people.  Its a game, have some fun with it.

I still like Team Ramrod....but thats just me.

I thought ACOG was the model for trijicon's "high end red-dot" Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight.

Its not a red dot..Its a 4x "mini scope". I believe they come in other Magnifications too..

I think its more of a red-dot than a scope.  Difference between you and I is that I've used them before, the 'donut reticle" "triangle reticle" the fibre optic piece on the top channels light down to this reticle. I have scopes and red-dots, this is more like a red dot than a scope.

Trijicon calls a lot of their sights by the ACOG name.  I think even the Reflex (like Nate's) is labeled an ACOG.

But no one cares about that, and it has nothing to do with this topic.

So are you saying that any Optic with an illuminated recticle is a red dot? Ive looked thru an ACOG like the one I posted a picture of before...Yes it was illuminated but it was a cross hair recticle not a "dot".

FYI there are MANY variations of the ACOG,
