So then it's an Echo1... Calling it a VFC is like driving a Saab 9-2X and saying you drive a Subaru Impreza or having a Pontiac Vibe and saying it's a Toyota Matrix... not that it's a bad thing either way. I'm sure they tweaked things like some of the other guns they rebrand for the better but i just think it is what it is, especially if they made an upgrade or change to VFC's hop up or etc.

The entire gun is a match to one of VFC's E series m4's. same internals, hop-up, inner barell...etc. the only difference is the echo 1 trades and it came with an echo 1 hi-cap. The case it came in is almost identical to the one the VFC Scars came in.

no, not really

it's like saying you drive a Holden Monaro when you have a Pontiac GTO

Feels fantastic.  Much better than my JLS (although that's admittedly not saying much).  It's heavier than I expected but not horribly so (heavier than the prototype at the Shot Show).  Didn't get the chance to shoot it last night because of the rain but so far everything appears to be assembled very well.  The manual has instructions for installing the optics module so that's got my hopes up.  Based on the pictures in the manual, it appears the optics module is a straight clone of the actual FN module.

Unfortunately the handguard design still wasn't designed properly as you can't mount an EGLM with out mods.  It's certainly doable but I was a little saddened that I couldn't just slide off the handguard and mount an Ares or VFC EGLM.

Mag compatibility will need a little playing around with PMags are a no go (no surprise there) as they pretty much just get stuck in the magwell.  MAG midcaps however are also a no go as they do not lock into place.  As far as I can tell thats due to the fact they are shorter than actual AR mags and the angle prevents them from reaching the mag catch.  I'm hoping to be able to try an Emag tonight.

What kind of and how hard would it be to mod the hanguatd to accept an EGLM?

This is true.

But in all seriousness, I've been waiting for this gun for almost 4 years.  It's not going anywhere.  I almost had to resort to begging to get it.

Oh I know.......You made that clear last night...........I just needed RogueFox to know I was in line before him. :)

Not like it would matter, he doesn't keep guns for long anyway.

just wondering x, how much did you get it for? and through whom?

i did a bit of googling, looks like they are retailing around $400 USD before shipping..

i really want to get one, can't seem to make the decision though. as for the mags, that's good to know. i have mostly MAG-brand middle capacity magazines, and a couple KWA/Aim-TOP high capacity magazines.. (M4 type)

i've been experimenting with different platforms, especially the bullpup type rifles for the new CQB place.. this one has definitely been an interest for me. i do have a P90, but they are so popular. and i strongly dislike MK5 SMG types.. i just ordered a G&G stubby blowback type M4, but i can't get their g2010 out of my brain  :?

are you planning to do a full review for this rifle x? that would most likely help sway my decision heh  :)

last addition; i did just find the short tan version on ASP for $300. there is most likely a catch though? i have not dealt with that company, so i have no clue what their drawbacks are. if anyone has, feel free to PM me/chime in..

Yes, the review will be posted on AS-R as all my stuff is.  As for where it came from and the cost, the magical gun fairies dropped it off at my door.
