AEG's / DAS REVIEW: S&T MG42
« on: March 19, 2014, 09:29:35 PM »
What does the (Desert) Fox Say?

Dunno, can't hear a damn thing over this badboy!

Howdy ladies and gentleman! Good night, and welcome, to one of the sweetest Squad autos I have held, the MG42!

Yes, I did buy one.

After coming back from east wind last week, I had an overwhelming desire to purchase an MG42 for our BW side to use, the MG42 is the essentially the same as the mg3, and, new sights, already ordered, and a Black stock, will make this awesome dude a new power on the Bundeswehr.

But, I digress.

I wanted an MG42, and I wanted an AEG.

The S&T delivers on both.

The shoei is nice, and high quality, but, it is as its name, kind showy, as in, on the wall.

The "Matrix" Mg42 is 1/4 the price at the time of this writing, and built to play!

Preliminary feeling and shooting, reveal that this gun is made almost entirely of metal, the ad said steel, but, I am not sure, will test.

Anyhow. The gun is amazing! weighing in at right around 21lbs, it sits and shoulders well. It is very long! And can get a bit front heavy, but, is generally very manageable.

It comes in a very well-packaged box, with a full manual.

The box mag is very nicely made, and holds 2400 rounds.

The gun itself appears to be shooting around 25-30 rps with 11.1v lipo, and sounds HOT doing it! Very smooth! much much better shimjob than my M249.

The box mag is auto-feeding, and links to the gun via a wire, as can be seen in the first pic.

I am not sold on this. It looks like it will make feeding a breeze, and be a cool feature, however, it is really just hanging out right in the open, and, the sight of a wire on a WW2 gun is kind of jarring for me.

Time will tell! I will most likely make a second box mag for it using a green drum,  ::), and make it button activated. Then I have both!

The gun itself is on par with the M249 - M60
The externals are solid enough, cool, and look like they are of decent make.
However, many of the screws on mine were loose when I got it. 10 minutes with an allen key solved this.

As far as the body. I don''t know what to say. Its like S&T spent a lot of effort making the parts, and then just slapped them together.
However, this doesn't even bother me. My feed cover was miss-aligned, two allen head screws later, BAM, perfect!

I think much of this is subjective. The gun is put together in a way you can tell it was meant to be massed produced, and I am not sure if this is due to S&T's factory, or the actual gun itself, being designed to be mass produced in 1942!

Either way, though some of the parts are off/loose, all the allen screws are metal, and the same size!  ;)

So, it can be fixed, to your liking, in minutes. To me, its 50/50, it might look a tad off at first, but, on the other hand, here is a gun that is using all uniform parts I can find at a hardware store, vs magic airsoft parts you have to buy direct.

The stock is real wood, and feels great! The battery storage on the stock locks in well, and has loads of room.

Charging handle is meh, but, I expected that, looks absolutely fine!

Main body is ROCK solid

650mm barrel.

This gun, much like the real one, BUZZES when shot. It shoots fast! And I haven't even made it inside yet!

FPS TBD

Bipod is extremely solid, move-able, but flops a bit.

Gearbox is VERY good, for the overall quality of this replica. It is much better sounding then the M249/60s I have heard stock.
I am very 50/50 to see how the gearbox-in-grip turns out. I wanted to put the real sling on the gun, but am holding off for now.

In short. I love this gun! I can't stop playing around with it, and I think it is going to fit in with my needs and expectations perfectly.

It is a budget Metal Mg42. FINALLY! :D

More pics and reviews to come!
I have the tripod inbound as well.

ALSO! It is important to note, just in the construction, and materials, I can definitely see this gun dropping down in price to be more in line with the A&K's soon.

At which time I will buy at least 1 more.

LOVE IT. Come see it at fightertown this Sunday!

Sehr Erotisch!!

General Airsoft Discussion / Eltro B8v Nightvision System
« on: January 13, 2014, 01:21:27 PM »
Hey there guys!
Wanted to share this beauty.
Bought an Eltro B8v, it will hit my doorway on Wednesday.

I am super stoked for this one, check it out:

There's some 80's for ya!

The scope is of the old "active" type Nv units, and uses an IR spotlight to illuminate a zone for an IR optic to gaze at. It apparently has a quality of image equal to some of the later gen passive units, but, we shall see when it arrives.

Look for a review!

Airsoft Items WANTED / WTB: Classic Army G3
« on: January 06, 2014, 09:03:52 AM »
Hi there Guys!
Today I am on the hunt for a few particular replicas!
Namely, Classic army G3's!

I am looking for a G3a3, and a G3a4, both hopefully by CA.
I am looking for any color on the G3a3, with preference on the green, as long as it has the CA body, and Full length barrel.

I am looking for a G3a4 as well, but would be willing to accept the front wired model with the full stock.

In short, if you have a CA G3 left sitting around, as many were, with a full length front end, let me know, and let me know what you want for it!
Thanks!

Hi there guys!
Well, the time has come for me to liquidate another batch of my items, and I am starting this off with a three of my favorite handguns, all pretty unique pieces.

1. TM PX4 - Black, with three mags, one mag is going to need a replacement fill valve, or a rebuild on the current one. All other mags work well. Gun is amazing, one of the best handguns I have used. FAST beyond count, hits hard and accurate every time. - $180 w/case and 3 mags

2. Tm Hi- Capa, Decked out chrome with Metal slide and upgraded internals. I have added spacers and springs, and a few mods I don't even remember to this beautiful handgun. Chrome silver, with black markings. One of the most accurate pistols I have ever used. Shoots FAR. Gets the hit. -$200 with 4 mags/case

3. TM Mk.23 with full case, LAM, and Suppressor. I picked this up rather recently, and haven't really had time to play with it. Gun definitely shoots. But I believe there is a slow leak in the mag. I was able to fire off a few shots without issue before unloading it. From looking at it, I do not believe the suppressor is a TM, but I am not sure. Take a look! Everything else in there is legit. Gun is Quiet! and shoots far. - $120 with mag/case/Lam/Suppressor.

Thanks!

Airsoft Items FOR SALE / WTS: Ron's AT4
« on: December 02, 2013, 10:49:20 AM »
Hey guys!
I am posting up a sale thread today, for one of my more unique/favorite items.
I was lucky enough to be the last bidder on the charity auction for Ron's AT4 after his passing, and Dayton's refurbishment of the AT4.

I dearly love this piece. But the time has come to move it on, I am downsizing all stuff in preparation for a move, and cannot take this.

SO,

I am offering it up for sale.
I paid $300 for it, and it has sat nice and covered in my closet, probably taken out and shot twice since I bought it. I am posting it up for the same price.
I have had a ton of offers on it, but, the first person who can get to me with $300 will walk away with this lovely piece of equipment.

-Range on this Bad boy is incredible. Rockets SOAR away.
-Accuracy is excellent as well
-Very good on gas for such a large tube/projectile, and easy to carry and use spare C02 tubes.

-Proven, and reliable design, rebuilt and up to date from Dayton, and will knock the socks off any commercially available tube!
Very nice piece.

Original thread, and picture, here:

*Adding in, only trade I would consider would be a Fusion engine in good shape. Thanks.

General Airsoft Game Discussion / Any interest in a multiple day game?
« on: November 05, 2013, 09:40:19 AM »
Hio guys!
Well, its getting colder out! And that means its game time!

I was looking into the logistics of hosting a multiple day game, and while I am still working on the details, wanted to gauge any interest in such an event.

Ideally, this would be an arrive friday, setup and hangout, then begin in the AM on sat. early. Play for the day, offer a night scenario, and then have a concluding event on sunday, and let everyone get out of there by 1pm or so.

Arrive saturday and play is an option as well.

Two teams, historical-ish scenarios.

I was thinking along the lines of the desert raids of WW2, in a more modern setting. IF I can find a good 1950's desert scenario (Historical) I would use that.

Focus on teams keeping there areas down, and moving with a plan, rather than sgww shootfest.

IDK,

I have a lot of heart, and a ton of ideas, but, it is just spitballing at this point/

So......camping/mil-banger?

Anyone interested?
