As for the STAR mags- I still have a couple G&P midcaps and one hicap in my vest. The 30rd mags are fun and work well, but if everyone else you are playing with has a vest full of hicaps, you may be screwed. I would advise any newbies against getting STAR mags until you have a couple of hicaps already.

The only way we can get everybody using low-caps is by usng them ourselves, Greg.  I will never buy a hi-cap.  I use stds exclusively, as do most AA players.

It IS kind of lame for me to make a case stating that stds are "realistic", since there are many other factors that are unrealistic in airsoft (accuracy, range, and recoil to name a few).  However, I find Hicaps to be a complete waste of having a magazine well in the first place.  I rarely go through 300 rounds in a day.  If you have to change your hi-caps, you are using too many BB's plain and simple!

Of course, I also think blind-firing and constant full-auto are complete dumbass things to do, but there's still plenty of that.

So what will I do, you ask?  Simple, I'll use Stds, aim my shots, and hope everyone else does the same.  If not, it's just a waste of BB's on their part.

We also won't always be playing with just AA. This past weekend, I really needed to switch to a midcap cause I was getting rained on with bb's. Maybe once we get a couple more support weapons (like the CA m249), we can do more std only games, cause we can actually have riflemen and automatic riflemen.

Because its not about how many how CAN shoot its about how little you can shoot and still take out alot of guys. Thats what it is all about with me. If I play support I wont go through half a hi-cap for about 5 games.

Do I have the right stuff?
« Reply #23 on: May 16, 2004, 06:53:21 PM »
Hello,

Now before you go and say "USE THE SEARCH FEATURE" I ALLREADY have.

Preatty much I bought an m15a4 Classic Army gun. I got it in the otherday. I whipped it out of the box and cradeled it in my arms. I took it into my fenced off back yard and attemped to shoot it. Nothing happened. Remember I am newbie! So I checked things out and figured out I needed to order alot more stuff for this gun to operate. I had forgot the battery, ect... I was very angered by this situation. I read on the topics from past forums and read the newbie page and all of that stuff but nothing would confirm what I needed to know. So that is why I posted this. I think I have it narrowed down to a list of things for this gun to operate and be playable.

1 tactical Carbine- Full stock

1 AR-15 Scope Mount

1 Charger : Prolux Alfa-3 Quick Charger

1 Battery : Sanyo 8.4V 3000 mah

2 Airsoft Elite M4 300 Round Magazine

So does everything work with the gun I am getting. Do the mags fit the gun? Does the scope mount able to mount on this type of gun. Does the battery work and fit in this gun? Does the charger charge the battery that I am getting?

Have I forgot anything to be able to go out and play with the other players at milsim's.
If so please post here to let me know.

Thank you for your time, Ryan
