If Ganef can't help you out, I can. I'm down in Tucson but we can work something out if we can't meet face to face. Send me an email at chrisjhawk@gmail.com

If the problem can be solved without a gun, don't use a gun. If it can only be solved with a gun, there is probably more important things for the police to be concerned with.

Killing a snake in your yard does not require a gun, and I highly doubt you can convince a cop that you needed to shoot your gun within city limits if your life was not on the line and alternatives were readily available. Just don't.

^this

To back up what ganef said, ARS 13-3107C9 reads (as an exception to the statute):
Quote
9. In self-defense or defense of another person against an animal attack if a reasonable person would believe that deadly physical force against the animal is immediately necessary and reasonable under the circumstances to protect oneself or the other person.

You'll have to prove to a jury that shooting a snake was "immediately necessary and reasonable under the circumstances" instead of utilizing a different method. Just because you have a hammer doesn't mean every solution is a nail.

In addition, there may also be local ordinances that may apply depending on your location.

Like others have said, take a quality CCW course or at the very least, familiarize yourself with ARS Title 13 chapters 4 (justification of defense and use of force) and chapters 31 (weapons). I've seen too many people wrongly believe that they can fire a warning shot, shoot at someone for walking across their property, etc. The best thing you can do is know what/when you can carry and what the law allows you to do in regards to that weapon. If you're confused, seek legal advise from an attorney. LEO don't provide legal advise.

Also, dont get the drop leg. The one in question won't retain your weapon well. The only quality drop legs available are in the $100+ range. If you want a holster that you can wear with a jacket, consider a shoulder holster, though that has obvious drawbacks as well.

And a tip for sewing that stuff, especially if you don't have a walking foot...put a piece of paper over the "grip" side when sewing and it help feed better on the machine. Just tear the paper off, leaving the stitch intact.

Ahhh, you got any laying around hawk? I only need less than a SQ Ft. Is it similar to the stuff in the DBT pouches?

It is similar to the stuff in the DBT pouches. I don't have any left over, but check here:

http://www.rockywoods.com/Fabrics-Hardw ... le-Fabrics

they have black and coyote brown in stock. I don't know if it is the same as the stuff I used or DBT's stuff, but it looks close.

@Hawk; i have heard that the removal of the hanguard is pretty hard? is that true.
It's not too difficult. You just need a tool or something sharp (like a 5.56 round) to push out the front pin.

Where would be a good place to go to get the modifications you mentioned, like stiffer springs and such? And about how much am I looking at to get the gun improved?
You can change it out easily. Just go to Ace hardware, get a spring the same diameter as the mag catch spring, cut it to the right size, and put it back in.

A few pictures of the G&P Masada and some observations. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but overall it is very nice.

The foregrip (where the battery is stored) cannot be removed without first removing the flash suppressor. To remove, push out the pin and slide forward.

The quick-change barrel feature is cool

The magazine catch spring is extremely weak. It wouldn't hold a magazine in very well. I replaced it with a stronger spring and it works fine now. Only problem, is because of the way the magazine release and bolt catch work, the bolt catch doesn't hold the bolt back without manually activating the bolt catch. Not that big of a problem. Note how the mag release pops out a tiny bit when the bolt lock is pushed down so you can remove the magazine release assembly

Man with pellet gun slain by cop
Off-duty officers stop at accident scene; weapon pulled when backup is sought
By Alexis Huicochea
ARIZONA DAILY STAR

A man was killed by an off-duty Tucson police officer after the man pulled a pellet gun on the officer, who had stopped to help what he thought was a motorist in trouble Wednesday morning, police said.

The man killed was identified as Paul J. Hoppler, 28.

Officer Rico M. Acevedo was placed on paid administrative leave, a standard procedure in these types of incidents, said Sgt. Fabian Pacheco, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.

The incident occurred at 12:42 a.m. near Miracle Mile and Interstate 10 on the frontage road.

Acevedo and another officer had just ended their shifts at midnight and were heading home in their private vehicles when they spotted a black Volkswagen Jetta up over a curb, Pacheco said.

The vehicle had crashed and two men and a woman were standing outside the car, he said.

One officer stopped to see if the occupants of the car were OK, Pacheco said. He got out of his Chevrolet pickup, and Acevedo arrived shortly thereafter.

Neither officer was in full uniform, but they identified themselves as police, Pacheco said.

Both officers said the men were acting suspiciously and might attempt to steal the pickup, so Acevedo went to his vehicle to call for backup, Pacheco said.
One of the men demanded that Acevedo not call for assistance and knocked the radio from his hand, hitting him in the face.

Hoppler pulled an Airsoft pellet gun that resembled a pistol and pointed it at Acevedo, Pacheco said. A struggle ensued, but Acevedo was unable to get control of the gun.

Hoppler had removed an orange plug from the barrel of the pellet gun to make it look like a real weapon, Pacheco said.

Acevedo managed to distract Hoppler, grabbed his duty weapon from his vehicle and shot Hoppler fatally, Pacheco said.

Hoppler was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other man ran but was caught by responding officers, while the woman remained at the scene, Pacheco said. Their identities have not been released.

Acevedo is an eight-year veteran of the department assigned to the West Side substation. He is a patrol officer, Pacheco said.

The department's homicide unit and internal affairs are investigating the incident, Pacheco said. The Pima County Attorney's Office and a board of inquiry will review the shooting.

Remember, airsoft + stupidity = bad

I've got one, and I've had it for about three years or so. It's a good little plinker gun, but I have had a few problems with it. You have to make sure that you don't buy some of the lower powered .22 ammo, otherwise it won't cycle properly. I've also had problems with the hammer spring, it's broken twice, and I've had to buy a replacement twice. I've only found one place in the US that carries the hammer spring for it, and it's $15. I also took out the mag disconnect safety and some other safety that needs a key to turn, but I haven't had any malfunctions due to that. Overall, though, it's a good gun, not as good as some other pistols I own, but it's fun and cheap to shoot.

That's pretty cool.

Did Sparkle Cleaners do your patches? If so, what was the turnaround?

Not sure what you mean, but I did have a coupon.....

Sparkle Cleaners does custom embroidery and patches.

The patches do look really clean though

But, it looks like it won't work on a handgun, unless you can figure out a way to mount it like the Crimson Trace laser units for the Glock.
