« on: April 21, 2005, 07:15:06 PM »
http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/meast/04/ ... index.html

I didn't read THIS article, but the news is saying it was full of blackwater contractors(6). I guess one got away and was executed. :(  First big news involved with PMC's I have heard in a while.

This just reminds me that one of our supervisors is headed to Iraq in the next few weeks to help the Iraqis rebuild thier water infrastructure.  He will be staying in the green zone at a military base and can only go out to work with a military escort. IF the military deems it too dangerous he doesnt go out.  All these dangers are the main reasons he gets paid every month with what I get in a year.  His boss will make 720,000 a year but that is because in the states he earns 150-200,000 a year.  But the price you pay for going there is that you may not return with your money.  That's the risks I guess.

Shit, I knew PMC's made alot of money, but even the water boys make 500k+ a year huh? Well, If I went for only a few days, I could probably fortune my airsoft future forever.

Just to reassert, these guys have years of experience in the field.  20years or more and only a few make that 500k or more a year. But still, it is amazing huh?

My buddy John was all set to go over for 75k for the year but his buddies  coming back talked him out of it.  Shit for weapons, and no support from the agency.  Not Black Water, a different outfit.

It's all kind of on the same topic Christian.

It gives anyone who's thinking about hooking up with one of these companies something to think about before they do it and figure out later it was a mistake.

I understand, but lets not get carried away.  These guys died for our government, and they deserve respect.

Understood and you are correct to a point, but didn't they really die for a paycheck?  They are not part of our military as far as I know but rather work for a PRIVATE CONTRACTOR to provide security for individuals.  Yes they did serve and deserve respect for that.  If it was me and I got wasted over there as a contractor I wouldn't expect anyone to cry anymore for me than if I got kille in my car on the way to work.  Let's not get carried away with this.

Right on, Harley.  Merc work is merc work.  And considering SOME of the guys they provide security for, it ain't at times that honorable either.
