Yeah I was whining a bit.

What did I do before I found indoor airsoft.. simple I sat on my ass, played videogames and ignored the world around me. Or I sat around and watched horror movies and got drunk... or I did one of any number of other things.

The fact of the matter was, I actually wanted some social interaction in a fun environment on a day that normally would have been a standard business day. Your bank "Example" falls flat, we expect banks to be closed on sundays, just as we expect Airsoft fields to be closed on Mondays/Tuesdays... it's the nature of the business. My complaint here, was that on what would have normally been an "Open" day for airsoft arena's, EVERYTHING was instead closed. Under the guise of "It's a holiday guys!"

This would have been easy to accept if Halloween was considered a federal holiday, or a typically recognized holiday where many other businesses close. It just seems odd to me that pretty much every AO was closed on a "holiday" that is not recognized federally. Or even by that many people at the end of the day.

Also getting together a private game of just 3 people, is kinda lame. yes everything was somewhat last minute. But you tell me you're not excited when you get a brand new set of weapons, and that you don't want to go out and use them as soon as possible Exarach.

That being said, things happen, I get that. And sometimes you have to blow off some steam. I'll get my chance sunday to put some hurt down. just a matter of waiting. Just sucks when it seems the rest of the world's falling down around you, and you just want to go out and blow off some steam ya know.

I go to movies during the super bowl, because screw football.

Seriously though, not everyone does this whole "It's X day, everyone does Y" yeah no...not everyone does that, and I can almost guarentee there would have been players on site.

That would have been great, had I not already had things going on when those other games were happening.

I think there would be a bigger turnout than expected, especially on Halloween days that end up on a normal, functioning day/school night like a Thursday.

I mean, if there was a long weekend or something this would have made sense. Or if Halloween was a Federal Holiday... but neither of those things were happening. So it just seems weird to stop business for basically a random thursday.

So... today's been, meh to say the least.

After getting my hands on nearly $500 of new gear, I was excited. My gear came in the mail, I got it, I was ready to go. I hit online and checked the two best options I had for airsoft on thursday. VIP and Tempe Airsoft/paintball.

Everything looked good [though apparently I entirely overlooked the fact that both sites were closed today.] So I hopped in my car with my roommate, called a buddy, and we were ready for a night of shooting people with small plastic pellets... a night that didn't happen.

It's not often I like to complain about business practices... and I like to support my local shops, but why the heck, was everything closed on Halloween? ESPECIALLY when everywhere on your sites mentions that you're "normally" open on Thrusdays from 5-11... What changed with Halloween? What exempted a great day, that could have been some awesome, costumed fights, and instead ended up with disappointment?

I'm just curious, now don't get me wrong I TOTALLY understand wanting a day off, but frankly information on this kind of thing should have been placed in the "Hours" area of the site. Apon review, I find that I was quite obviously blind [save for the fact that VIP's site has the fact that they are closed on a rotating banner, that's easily missed if you look away for a couple of seconds.]

It's a crime we missed some epic chances for themed games tonight guys... and I was soo ready to spend money at one of these two places.

It happened in California... not shocking really.

I understand many will find my attitude on this subject somewhat... dry, but frankly if the gun is the same one displayed in the pictures, given the laws in the state of California, the police were within their right to fire feeling threatened by a kid with an AK. That picture clearly shows that the "Orange/red" tip that should be on the weapon is not present. The kid was probably being a smartass and waving it towards the cops too.

Is it terrible a 13 year old kid is dead because of this? Yes, yes it is. But it seems, as it was, that the kid [or his friend, as the gun apparently belonged to his friend] was already breaking California state law by not having the blaze orange tip present.

Frankly we don't have this worry here in the state of Arizona. You can open carry an airsoft gun just as simply as you can a real steel version.

General Airsoft Game Discussion / Fighter Town Night Games in June
« on: June 05, 2012, 09:25:02 PM »
Ok, so I'm wondering when/if any night games are going on at Fightertown on the Saturday's. Their website says Yes, but I need to know if players are going to be there, and when. Been missing the game these past two months.

Introduce Yourself! / couple year airsofter, new to the forums

How's it going guys and girls of Airsoft Arizona. Name's Ash, or Jade if you will. Figured I'd give a quick introduction of myself, and how I got into airsoft.

I'm 26 years old, been living in Arizona since 1999... I picked up airsoft around 2004-5... started with cheap Cyber Gun walmart pistols. My first real game was a 3 day camping trip out to Sierra Vista with a friend and some of his buddies. That's when I got my first AEG M4... since then, I haven't looked back... Sure I've taken breaks, but I continue to return to this hobby. It's great.

I'm currently located in Tempe, and I've been going to VIP Airsoft almost weekly [usually friday's/Saturdays.] and it's been great getting back into the hobby. Hard to believe how easy it is to miss something like this. I played for quite a few years in the Payson area.

Current Kit Loadout:
JG G36C Full Metal Gearbox AEG

Echo 1 "Lone Wolf" Green Gas Pistol.

Hey, I'm new to the site, but I've been looking for some good games, do we have an estimate of how many people are going to be onsite? Also would you welcome a newish [I've been playing for a while, but as I said, new to the site] player to come play? also around what time would everyone be getting together?
