Good Gbb colts
« on: January 08, 2005, 05:51:18 PM »
Ok, I just got the Colt Para (KJW) from JT, and it's got a huge prob, the gas can shoot out at any time, leaving the mag useless and cold for a few minutes. And it's never shot a full mag worth out.

I've had several gas guns, and always had problems. Yes, I had the Glock 26c that Ron sold me, but the problems with that were my fault. But all the other gas guns.. they've been crappy.

Does anyone know any good, reliable colt GBB guns? From any company, under $200. I looked all over, I see many colts. I just don't want to buy a colt and have it crap out like the Para. Any suggestions?

I gotta agree with Busta on this one. Just replace the o-rings, lube the hell out of it and give the gun a chance. Mine has been a wonderful purchase from day one. It handles well and the build quality for a KJW is awesome. Have a little faith in it and some time.

Replace what o-rings? The mags are all working, it's the gun. And I've never taken the gun apart, so I don't know what goes where. But, the gas doesn't leak out, when I fire a bit, the slide slams back and forth as usual, then in time, it goes forward and the rest of the gas shoots out the barrel. What gives? And.. for lubing the hell out of it, I did.. I sure did.

Oh.. and if I ever got it to work, It'd be the coolest handgun ever. The few shots I get per mag (3-12) rock.. the kick is so cool. Phx, did yours have the same problem at the beginning?

Ok, as I posted before online kicked me off...

I took the slide apart, like.. 100% apart, and I didn't lose one piece. Can I get an aplaud? Anyways, I lubed almost every moving piece, specially the blue o-ring and the part it goes in. I slap it back together, and.. two mags so far, about 50 shots! No problem!

I can't fire any more, it's 1 in the morning. everyones asleep.

Cut the guy a little slack.

We've all been frustrated with a gun that didn't work right.

That's all the help you offered, the "us" you refer to never included you, so shut up.

And besides... I need to do the same damn thing every few mags. so "us" never fixed it anyways, just helped a bit.

Edit: I also did listen to them in the first place, you didn't see me say "No, thanks. I know it won't work" or "It might work.. but I'm just too bored", did you? You sure didn't. So, I did listen to them, and that's why it works every now and then, instead of always bein crud.

Well heres a few questions for you and anyone who has been complaining about GBB's doing this:

1. Have you ever used propane in your gun? even just 1 or 2 shots with it

2. Have you ever used red gas in your gun?

Propane WILL dry out your guns seals and orings, and if your orings are cracked or damaged, this can be the cause of gas spewing out or leakage. Buy replacement orings for every part of your gun, fill valves, flow valves etc and then lube them with 10,000wt 100% silicone oil and get it on everything that moves against the orings. Then see if the gun works the way its supposed to.

EDIT: Also, seals and orings can crack and dry out on thier own during shipping..Say if there was alot of temperature changes or sudden changes. Stuff happens, so its not always the company's fault. 8)  KJW is an all around good company, but just remember, GBB's need more care than most other airsoft guns(if not all)  because they are more prone to getting dirt in/on them. THe smallest particle of dirt could ruin your GBB day if its in the wrong place.

Hell, ask Ben, I dropped my para on the start of the first game yesterday in some dirt, I thought i would have to take off the slide and clean it to get it to work. There was a little bit of a grinding sound when the slide was pulled back, and the entire fill valve hole had moist dirt in it. I just used some green gas to blow out the dirt in the valve, shot a mag thru it with no bb's and it worked perfect all day. I even got 3 or 4 kills with it during the pistol games. Of course I did clean it and relube when I got home, but it held up all day(about 12 mags worth) without a single problem, misfeed, or crappy shot.

I hope this helps.

Busta, if Propane goes through the mag will it hurt it? I let Dave borrow one of my mag, and he might be using propane. But not in my Para

Edit: Now about 400rds through it, just one screwup. Not a bad gun, but a tad bit inaccurate. A great cqb handgun, though.

Heres something to consider..All the para mags have hi flow valves preinstalled, and the reservoirs on the mags are quite larges. I fill my mags for about 5-6 seconds or until im satisfied...And they only last about 50-60 rounds..You could get a high performance valve to save some gas but the high flow valve is better in my opinion for fps and recoil. Try using .25's or .23 in your para, will be accurate as hell up to 50ft or so, but will be SLOW. The propane could hurt the mag, yes. Propane isnt meant to lube what its used for, its meant to burn..thats it..to combust into flame. Now, green gas and 134a have silicone and other lubes in them to lube seals so you dont have to as much.

Oh, cool. Thanks. And I fill my mags (I have the double stack Para) till' it's just about full, but not full. I use about 2ords in a mag, although the gun can hold 26. And I get about 3o shots. When I'm using the mag, at about the 15th shot, you can tell the powers considerably reduced. The same happens with the Greengas.

I'll make sure to not use propane ;-).

What Para do you have? The double stack?
