General Airsoft Discussion / Re: Polarstar Ban?
« on: June 22, 2012, 12:04:22 AM »
Arguing the cost of a Polarstar is a moot point. It doesn't matter how much the Polarstar is at all. Every person earns, saves, and spends money as they see fit. Some of us make more money and have more to spend based on our life choices. Airsoft is nothing but disposable income and it is all that airsoft will ever be. This is a HOBBY and hobbies cost money. My brother has spent THOUSANDS on his car. That is his choice to where his disposable money is spent. There are hobbies and things you do. There is a difference and you can see it in the players.

As for Polarstars, they are being used as intended by the intended audience. This is why they were made. You can't blame a Polarstar user, like Shadow, for buying a gun he wants that follows area limits. The Polarstar is simply better at being a field rifle than AEGs. Would you blame someone for buying a KWA 1911 over a WE 1911? Or, perhaps a Dboys/Kalash AK or JG Ak? Which fills the roll better?

Even though I dislike Polarstars and know how to cheat with them, I have no intention or desire to get them banned nor wish to see them banned. All one has to do is inform the field owners of how the cheating can occur, with ALL guns, and take precautions against them.

You can not simply ban guns because you don't like them. The only reason to ever ban a gun is for safety reasons that simply can't be avoided. I, personally, don't know of any out right banned airsoft guns(other users probably will). 99.9% of the time guns are banned on a case-by-case basis due to the owner intentionally/unintentionally operating over the stated FPS/joules. Polarstars simply offer another gun type for players to use. I like the fact they are American made, but simply don't like the peripherals needed or how they shoot. That is my personal choice in how I chose to play this game.

When it comes down to it, you'd have to ban nearly every single gun if you follow the logic of banning these. I, and several others here, can open gearboxes between games and change springs or bolts. Hell, I can change my KWA Mp7 faster than Polarstars can and change the lowers on G36s/M4s on the field.

The problem is with the players. Always has been and always will be.

On second thought....fudge it. I don't care and nothing will change. I'll just go elsewhere when I decide to play. It'll be easier.

I'm seeing a lot of semantics based on the definition of the actual word being used and not the meaning of the term being used. You are given several words for the same purpose since everyone plays with different rules. However, the meaning behind the terms remains the same. If you are caught off guard and called out, you are out. The word choice is irrelevant and could be "get a life". This does not change the meaning behind the terms being used in context.

Secondly, hdrox88's point is also irrelevant.  If you walk up to a person and shoot them, they may not even feel it or hear it depending on the gear they are wearing. If the person has their gun shooting facing the opposing way, the likely hood of them realizing they are shot drop drastically due to being "in the moment". Nor will they expect to be engaged from behind and could consider it to be FF. A simple briefing before the game solves this problem to what is being considered legit. You can not simply say "if you don't like being shot up close...this isn't the game for you" since the "if you like shooting people up close, then this game is not for you" can also be said to be true. People argue against this train of thought since it is paintball type attitude, yet argue for it when it suits them. This is the real world and not high school, you want to reduce the risk of confrontation and egotism. Being shot up close is going to happen, but you don't have to stoop and be the one doing it as the new players do. I, personally, refuse to engage someone at point blank range if they aren't wearing a mask. I had one player with my Mk23 in his face(no mask) and another my old M249 in his(no mask). Did they both do d*ck moves when I didn't fire? Yea, but it's a game and ruining someones teeth and face isn't on me. If taking the high road was easy everyone would do it. We all should have learned that only you can control you...really so in a game that you should be evaluated on honor.

You're over thinking the entire situation.....

The surrender/bang bang rule is used when ONE person has clear advantage over another PERSON. This means that it can only be used when the attacker can kill the defender will no retaliation. A PARLAY is when there is no clear advantage to either party. For SAFETY, both parties remove themselves from the situation and respawn away from eachother.

If the person were to be shooting his gun or making physical contact...he could not take multiple people without being noticed. If he were making physical contact, then he would be at a disadvantage by being pre-occupied to handle the rest. So, you can not surrender multiple people out right.

However, a staggered surrender is possible upon multiple people. A staggered surrender is a single event combined with other single events. However, this means that each individual surrender must be clear without the other parties being able to notice. This is extremely difficult to impossible.

So...you can't surrender 6 people at once but you can surrender 6 people individually. The maximum you can surrender, using Vanguard rules, would be TWO via a knife and gun at point blank range with the gun at someone with zero chance of retaliation.

PASGT/Crye Airframe/MICH2001(all clone)

I might post more when I get in game pictures of them. The Airframe will have some E-Lites on them, and whatever patches I can find. The Airframe is painted to match the Gorka E Sposn pattern.

This thread hasn't moved much in 3 years.......

Before even thinking of this...as most new people do....

Play the game and realize the type of person that actually goes to the fields. Why bother making a new one when it's a royal b*tch to get people onto the ones now?

The roster shows a decent amount of people so far. Yet, like always there's no 'color count', leaving the possibility of everyone showing up the same color. How do you plan on regulating that? Recommend you get a handle on that and push for people who RSVP to also mention the color they will be. Arm bands don't seem to work that well from my experience, plus it's more realistic when it's color vs. color.

Doesn't matter. Most people that post don't show up anyway.....nor is it realistic. An invading country isn't going to show up in tan when invading a forest region....

Pay attention, remember who's on your team, usually people facing you aren't friendly, and kept FF off(I always do at least).

I go every now and then...and the kids aren't the problem.

It's the 16-20 year olds. The kids mostly camp in the back while the actual players take the middle. It's the age range ALL OF YOU WANT TO PLAY WITH that are causing all the problems....just like at the normal games. For instance;

The last time I was there the chief cheater was; a normal 20+ airsofter. The chief arguer was; a 30+ year old man.

Have fun, don't take it seriously, and just play the game. If you guys actually look at the field....it's not meant to be taken seriously. The walls are painted....like 5 different colors and there is a barn....
