Airsoft Battle Wounds
« on: September 16, 2008, 05:04:45 AM »
I have been playin for a few months or so now. During which time ive acquired some fun little injurys and least favorite spots to get shot (PG).  My most recent and only severe injury has been a couple separated ribs, did that by beeing over-confident after a recent rain storm. Was walking down a wash on the bank during a night match in s. phx went to take aim, and crumble, slip, bam, down i went...

Gotta say my least fav spot to get hit is the ear, took a whole burst  with one and I have to say that wasnt fun at all. What are the odds?

most dreaded spots - eyes and teeth, always worried protection will fail that 1 time..

Scariest one - During another night match a guy ALMOST steped on a diamond back... no bs. that pretty much ended the games for the night.

What about you guys? I am sure theres gotta be some stories out there..

Are your goggles/glasses ANSI rated? What are you carrying in terms of a first aid kit?

I haven't had any broken bones, but I've had some Charley Horses, sprains, and close encounters with cacti. I haven't been hit in the teeth yet (knocks on wood) but I've got friends who now wear mouth guards.

BBs leave marks once in a while, but nothing bad.  Of course, unless you are stupid and aren't wearing eye protection, which for me on my ESS Turbos covers my ears as well. Field injuries happen more than AEG fire injuries from my experience.

My worst BB scare was in a op a few years back in NY.  I was crawling along side a bank on a river, and I was point.  We were coming up to an old abandoned concrete tube of some sort, and I was moving up to it to be the patsy and look for signs of life.  There was, I spooked the guy from about 20 ft, and he turned and started blind firing right as I was moving from the tree I was behind to another along the bank.  I felt a shot hit my lip, and it was pretty painful.  I felt something moving around in my mouth, I was like shit, I just broke my tooth.  So I spit it out, covered in blood, and its another BB.  The dude blind fired two straight into my mouth.  Suffice to say, though it hurts getting hit on the lip, I was relieved to be spitting out plastic instead of teeth.

At Red Dagger I got "injured" trying to get into the halftrack.  I flipped into it, since I am acrobatically and horizontally challanged, and landed on the floor with my fingers between my AEG and the metal grating.  Didn't even notice I cut my finger, but it has left an interesting scar since then.  Thats all I got lol.

I took a graze from an m203 on my crotch and left leg once, that was fun....
I have scars on my hands form the game before I wore gloves, never forgot to wear them after the first time, it was a good lesson... safety, you only have to learn it once.....

You need to get better eye protection then.  If you are not 100% confident about your goggles/glasses, you're doing something wrong.  Teeth shots always worry me though too.  I've always kind of liked being shot in the goggles; it's easy to tell you got hit, but it doesn't hurt any.

Worst I've ever been hurt was a shot I took to the lip from about 6 feet away.  It bled a lot, hurt like hell, and didn't heal completely for more then a month but luckily it didn't damage any teeth.

Ive got a solid few sets. mask, goggles, and some glasses, there arent going to break, still when they get hit freaks me out a bit, just one of those spots.

first aid kit is basic. band aids, ace, neosporin, burn cream, gauze, ibiprophin.

Most importantly, it left you with blood on your gear, sling, and ACUs - Which makes it more legit.  :P

Kind of like a tradition.  You know, like when Vince soaks his BB's overnight in his own urine before a big game.  That's why they look so infected...punji BB's.
Coincides with the every other 6 month infusion of noobs I think.

EDIT:

For Matt's sake:

I hope you are joking.

Unless you know what you're doing, the Kitty Litter can do more harm than the original injury.  There are other means of clotting a wound that can be more readily applied and not have the potential for burns (QK) or allergic reaction (chitosan).  A styptic pencil for shaving cuts would be a better idea, but if it's bleeding THAT bad you might have a bigger issue.  I'm no medic though.

As for least favorite spot to get hit (not that I have a favorite, though) is the face.  It hurts, and usually is an open wound which requires more attention.  I"ve been fortunate to make the last few games without getting a mugshot, but when I first started playing it seemed to happen every weekend at BT.

Oddly enough, the first time I every got hit at an airsoft game was at thew Cajun House CQB game, in the face, from about 10 feet.

So far I've only got 2 in the head. both hurt like a bitch. neither broke much skin. the rest all in the vest and arms. Paintball though...... well ask the f*cktard from ASU ROTC, I'm sure he didn't mean to shoot me in the junk, just as I didn't mean to safety kill his cadet ass in the neck at 5 feet either.
