Internal Upgrade Suggestions: ICS MP5
« on: October 01, 2011, 09:38:36 PM »
Hi Airsoft Arizona,

So I have had this ICS MP5 for maybe 5 years now and I'm surprised it still works. Anyway I don't use it very often so I never wanted to spend the time and money to upgrade it and everything in the gun is still completely stock. But lately I've been wanting to get more involved in the sport and I was hoping someone would have some suggestions on essential upgrades that I could buy since I have NEVER upgraded an airsoft gun before. Mainly I want to increase range and power since I use it on the field but really any suggestions will help.

Thank you for your feedback.

tight bore barrel obviously, a better spring for higher fps (if necessary)  try to get a really good air seal for maximum performance, a good shim job and maybe a new piston and air nozzel? not all these things are needed but these things could help.

m120 spring
Shim
Systema bucking
PCS nub
Madbull or prometheus tightbore
Fix compression, generally a new cylinder head and air nozzle will do

That's generally it for a power upgrade.

theres hundreds of things you can do to get what you want out of your ics, mainly i would say your gears are good. i'v used ics gears in the past and there pretty danm good. so your gears are probably good to go for what you want.

I would sudjest an m120 spring, a ball bearing spring guide, ball bearing piston head in policarbonate, to keep the shock from the piston hitting forward, down.  a new hopup bucking in a medium % rating like promethious, or guarder 50% or closest to that.
i'd also sudjest a .03 madbull tightbore maby extended thru a mock barrel extenshion that looks like a suppressor. .01 tight bores are a little to tight for az i think, alot of dust. madbull is by far the best of the affordable barrels in my opinion. keep it clean and ull be happy with it.

then when you get tho's done you could shim your hop up arms to reduce side to side movement, aluminum foil does the trick just fold it a few layers thick. and put it along the sides of the hopup arm so it doesnt move side to side.

youtube is your best friend bro. dont forget that you can find everything on there.

If you've never upgraded an airsoft gun before, might I suggest talking to the techs at an airsoft shop? Youtube can be helpful for a lot of things, but if you are not mechanically inclined, you can and probably will mess up when trying to take the gearbox apart. They could also help you with picking out parts and since you are in a shop, you can buy them right then and there.
