TAC and the Desert Hawks are proud to present the 9th annual Operation Red Sleigh Down on Saturday, December 7th 2013.  Operation Red Sleigh Down is a benefit game that raises awareness about children in need this holiday season.  Near the holiday season each year, we gather to play an organized airsoft event and fill a car with new unwrapped toys and then donate those toys to the USMC Toys For Tots program.  Please consider coming out, helping those in need, and having a good time with us while you are at it.

Scenario:
5 flag, standard Battlefield games.

Admission
This event is by admission only.  Your admission is unwrapped toys with an equal or greater value of $10.  Cash donations are discouraged, but if you forget your items a suggested cash donation of $15 will allow the staff to purchase items in your behalf when dropping the donations off.

For more information on the Toys For Tots Program please visit their website:

In for green. Manaconda. M81 Woodland.

Was looking around TAC and noticed something about the Oro Valley AO. Will we be required to have orange tips on our guns?

We are taping on orange duct tape.

Whats the reason for the orange tape?
Title: Re: OP: Red Sleigh Down IX: Battlefield Oro Valley
Post by: TJC10 on November 12, 2013, 07:13:13 PM
Whats the reason for the orange tape?

Oro Valley ordinance requires a "brightly colored tip, similar to" (but not exactly like) "that required by federal law." Federal law only requires the tip when transporting the airsoft gun. In the spirit of the law, and its intent, we are putting a thin piece of orange tape around the supressor.

The ordinance also requires that we:
1. Don't shoot within 100' of a house. (no prob there)
2. Use eye pro. (dumb if you don't).
3. Use bio bb's. (No different than LC).
4. Bright colored tip. (Tape)

The field is huge. Much larger than SASCO. Parking area is 30+ vehicles. We improved the access road, removed hazzards, and cleared brush wide enough so that vehicles will not touch anything. Low clearence cars like my Aveo has no issues with it. Its like throwing a hotdog down a hallway.

The area that we are using is hard to fight in, but the "Battlefield" AO will give no advantage to either side. I encourage everyone to climb Iron Drum hill and survey the field pro to game start.

90 minute evolutions with a break, between games.

I get it I do. Though, we still live in Arizona not CA where the (Cop Killer Law was attempted)

Ah well then. It's for a good cause and we go as a team every year.

Sixth Column +5 Tan

Put that down tentatively. Numbers will change possibly.

So long as I can find a ride I'm in with either OD green, M81 Woodland, or Flecktarn, I can't quite decide yet lol.  Either way, I will be greener than a supermutant, no doubt!

Please note that MC could map either way depending on numbers. It could very well be MC vs everyone else.

Wasn't it MC vs all last year? Or am I remembering a different game..
Title: Re: OP: Red Sleigh Down IX: Battlefield Oro Valley

It was MC vs WL. A load of IFF issues. If this is the case this year home depot has tons of different, bright colored tape for arm banding. Exactly like I used at the last Stalker game.

Do you see in the original post where the word rules is highlighted? Well 2 line below that it says "everyone must read". If you clicked on that topic it shows you the exact location of the A.O. God isn't it great how directions work in society!!

Just dropping by to pimp this thread.  Work and home life have been a killer for me this last year but thanks to team members like Trent that means there are folks to pick up the slack and make sure RSD happens.  Its a great AO, its for a good cause, and for lots of the Tucson folks at least its been awhile!

If you have any questions or concerns don't hesitate to contact me directly here or by phone.

I'll see you guys out there!

Hey Kiley,
I had some stuff come up, and have to pull out of this one. I was wondering if there was a paypal account where I could still send you the $15 for a toy>?

There have been several ppl jump in and jump out this week lol. Total numbers are around 70.

I will post more specific directions tonight by 1900. There will be a staff member posted at the turn in as well so that you don't miss the turn.

I have to limit the AO parking lot to SUV's and Trucks because it may be too rough for some cars. I drive my Aveo in there all of the time but some may not want to.

You can either send your donation (still prefer toys) with someone who is attending or make a direct contribution to TFT.  No sense in giving PayPal free blood money.  We will miss you though!

On an unrelated note does anyone have eyes on a Magpul iPhone 5S case?  I would like to get either the field case in black or the new hard shell bump case in FDE.  If you do and could bring it along tommorrow drop me a PM.  I'll pay you a little premium to be my private courier/monkey boy (or girl).6

You guys coming out of Phoenix Tangerine my be locked down. Take Twin Peaks a couple miles south and it loops around back to tangerine, take a right, then a left on Rancho Vistoso. Follow it around. The turn off is on the right, across from Del Webb Blvd. If you get to Oracle road you went too far. There will be a kid in DPM at the turn in.

Don't have GPS coordinates on the entrance on my phone but here is the street number for it and a link to google maps.  If you punch this into your navigation you should be good coming down the 79, across Tangerine, or up Twean Peaks etc...

1784-2004 E Rancho Vistoso Blvd
Oro Valley, AZ 85755

You will know it's the spot since it's the first left hand turn after you cross the river heading north, or last right hand turn before the river heading south.
