BB's
« on: December 20, 2009, 12:26:20 AM »
Just wondering what high grade bb's and the ones to stay away from. Reason is my gearbox locked up twice tonight.

Bbs dont effect your gearbox, unless you poured a couple in there on purpose.  For the sake of the question I prefer ksc and excel.  Crack it open and see whats wrong or bring it to Gearbox if youre not confident in your repair abilities.

I already fixed it, and thats the only explanation I can find because the air nozzle got stuck the 2nd time   and the first time the anti-raversal latch came off track.

Errr wut?

The ARL is held firmly in by the axle it rotates on into the gearbox halves... the only way for the ARL to "come off track" is for the ARL to break...

And yes, BB's can affect your gearbox, if you jam your barrel using crappy BB's, and you keep laying on the trigger, the air pressure formed when the BB is stuck will cause the piston to hang in the gearbox, when the Sector gear comes around again, say bye bye to the piston...

I like Airsoft Elite bbs. I have never had a problem with them.

Today I only use Bioval BBB MAX 0.27g and Maruzen Super Grand Master 0.29g. Best stuff on the market!

Madbull
TSD
KSC
G&G
Airsoft Elite
Airsplat brand
AirsoftGI brand

Those are all BB's I've never had a problem with.
There are more that are said to be awesome as well, such as the grand maruzen and such, but I don't have experience with them. What can I say, I'm cheap.

The Maruzen SGM .29's are not meant for AEG's. Considering you will be paying about 4-5 cents per BB versus a fraction of a cent for regular bb's.

Again, the only way for that to happen is for the ARL to break... the only other way that could happen is if it was installed incorrectly tobegin with.

I use Airsoft Elite in my G&G M14 Veteran, which is my DMR, a VERY VERY accurate one at that!

Yeah the rod for the bevel gear and anti broke as I found out the 3rd time I tool it apart.

I'll check out airsoft elite, and 4-5 cents per bb is a bit much for me thats when every shot counts plus it's more than a .22 bullet

I would suggest a new pinion gear before a new motor.

As far a bb's go, I can tell you to definitely stay away from Madbull and Javelin .20 biodegradable bb's.  It has not been just one bad experience with them, I've used 3 bags and many different guns, and they always acted the same.  Just an FYI, Javelin and Madbull .20 biodegradables are the same thing.

Don't get "Matrix" bb's of any kind, they suck.

The best brand I have used was G&G, but Airsoft Elite, Madbull, TSD, and Excel all make excellent non-bios as well.

As far a bio bb's go, I would say that my best experiences have been with TSD.

My experience is that Airsoft Elite and Killer Beez are great.

I used some of the Javelins over the weekend and I dunno if they were biodegradable but they worked fine.

Also very affordable.
