if they say its because of crime....you know their lying and they have some crazy, matrix type agenda going on. I think they know by now, that banning doesn't lower crime rates. Take the UK for instance, the handgun ban, sinces its creation, crimes which included firearms doubled...  Gun Control doesn't generally work, in the general sense as most governments would like it too. For them to abolish our 2nd amendment rights, they have something much larger planned then just to lower crime rates. The day they attempt to take them is the day you use them.

alright then so i wasnt mistaken, thank you for clearing that up. and the only thing that gun control will do is take them away from law abiding, civillians who would use them to defend themselves.

Well the whole crime argument is pointless. I am sure most of you know of Kennesaw, Georgia. Kennesaw is 20 miles or so from my house They have a mandatory gun ownership law.

“ARTICLE I. IN GENERAL

Sec. 34-1. Heads of households to maintain firearms.
(a) In order to provide for the emergency management of the city, and further in order to provide for and protect the safety, security and general welfare of the city and its inhabitants, every head of household residing in the city limits is required to maintain a firearm, together with ammunition therefor.
(b) Exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who suffer a physical or mental disability which would prohibit them from using such a firearm. Further exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who are paupers or who conscientiously oppose maintaining firearms as a result of beliefs or religious doctrine, or persons convicted of a felony.
(Code 1986, § 4-3-10)

Sec. 34-2. Use of firearms.
No person shall fire a gun, pistol or other firearm in the city, except in the defense of person or property, and except peace officers or military forces of this state or the United States, in the discharge of official duties.”

Needless to say their crime rate went down once the law went into effect and remains ridiculously low now. Search in Google, Yahoo or what ever engine you prefer the stats speak for them self.

Again, he has the qualities of a hitler. Great in front of a crowd, starts off with promises, and can talk his way out of anything. Though I am no Obama fan, all I and we can do is hope for the best. We will see.

^ i do agree with that, he basicly got up infront of thousands of middle class people a nd said he was going to ruin the lives of anyone that makes good money.... AKA if you are Sucsefull we are going to destroy you. thing is he said a lot of radical things, but you hope that it was just to get votes, however with the senate at almost 2/3 democrat and the house somewhere aroudn there also, I think there will be a lot of change, for better or worse. Who knows maybe in 4 years he will do amazing things like and I hope to God he can, but I'm just getting that sinking feeling that his presidency is going to be a little bumpy.

The thing is, He can make all the bans on firearms he wants, and will take little to no flak from it, because he will cover it up with some magical plan that fixes the economy or something. I bet, he does some good for the country, but at the same time promotes his own agenda *COUGH* disarms the country *COUGH* and somehow get away with it... Hope for the best!

Actually, because of a little thing called seperation of powers, the President cannot make any kind of legislation.  Only Congress can enact laws that would "ban" firearms.  Of course those laws are subject to constitutional challenge and the Supreme Court can undo any law that violates our fundemental rights.

Nothing is going to change so quickly that it justfies the uneducated hysteria that seems to abound with every new president.

Even IF they reinstate the old assault weapons ban, it doesn't really "ban" anything that already exists.  I don't want to pay an inflated price for pre-ban weapons and accessories, but at least I know I can buy and possess them regardless.

This country will never be "disarmed" in any sense of the term.

Read more non-fiction, learn, and relax a little....

you are right doc, he can't truly "disarm" the country, but he does have the power to push and prod to get the laws he wants passed, and being the same party as a vast majority of the senate and House of Representatives, most will vote along party lines, as usual.

its not about the hobby. Its about our rights given to us as Americans. If you let them take one right, and hope things don't get anyworse, they have total control and have already stripped you of your most basic civil liberities. A wise man once said

"Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety"

If we all thought as your statement says, we would still be apart of the British Empire.

Oh please, this is all a bunch of inflated horse shit. Its not possible for Obama to ban guns, or make it so that we can't feasibly buy them. You see, word in America and most parts of the world get around very quickly via the internet. I have confidence that the people would stand up for whats right and overthrow if necessary. We as humans always find ways around the rules, new ways to bend and break them. We always will. There will always be people to stand up for whats right and lay their lives down if its called for, and I would be standing up with them. Even if its just me and a few others against an army. Have any of you guys seen the movie V for Vendetta? Its very true that people should not be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of their people. I can completely understand you guys paranoia, but to say that he is going to disarm the nation is just plain unadulterated stupidity. It really is. We should not be worried so much about this, we have better things to worry about at the moment. We should not be looking for "just incase it actually happens" we should be looking for "whats happening right now?". If the time arrives, the American people will cross that bridge when we come to it. Thing is people are trying to step across the mountain before we even see the bridge. Use your head people, use your resources, and use your logic! And when the time comes, you will know. But right now theres nothing to stand up about.
