Myth Busters did a thing on it as well and the only thing that happened is it poked a little hole in the skin. (I assume they where using FMJ's)

This wasn't mythbusters ... they had a section of a real commercial airliner and we stood there and watched them fire a number of different rounds into it.  Nothing penetrated the skin or the glass from a mid cabin firing position at an angle or strait into it.

Bulkheads however dont stop bullets....

What are these magic "LEO" rounds that dont penetrate? (an actual question, I actually want to know)

as far as i've always known "law enforcment officer" rounds are just hollow points to minimize collateral damage.

The mythbusters were firing at the window and not through the wall of the aircraft and they were also using FMJ's instead of hollow points. A frangible round fired at the dense interior of the cabin of an aircraft may possibly disintegrate before it reaches the outer skin.

Without the actual details of the Govt. tests you are comparing apples and oranges.

Additionally the "aircraft" they used for that test was a DC-9 which has not been produced since the mid-1980s.  The technology then has dramatically been improved upon and materials used in the construction of the aircraft that are widely in use today are rather different.

I saw a .40 S&W FHS fired directly into the window and it did not penetrate all the way through, although they suggest that discharge is best when firing at an angle and slightly downward.

If you want to know details take the course.  Of course you cant without a badge....

what? Fruit salad???

I am just wondering, because I have seen so-called hollow points not expand or expand very little out of my .45acp.  I think its gotta be due to the fps.  They are only achieving 800-900fps.  Now maybe a .40 with a higher fps may be able to expand and disintegrate, but a .45 I would have doubts. (again unless its a special type of ammo used and then I would like to see what it looks like for shits and giggles)

EDIT:

Are these them? http://shop.lobogunz.ieasysite.com/prod ... d=45ACPAFR

Again I am only asking because if they will penetrate into the body, but several bodies and/or walls then I will be ordering some for my defense round.
