Post by: AirsoftMAN121 on May 23, 2013, 11:40:16 PM
How long should I charge a 7.4v and a 11.1v lipo?

If you have a decent charger it will notify you when its fully charged. If not then there should be a couple L.E.D lights that are red when charging and turn green when done. Should be 3 lights to be exact,2 will light up for 2 cell and 3 for a 3 cell.

What charger are you using?
It's a good idea to use a balance charger.  You can find one on ebay for around
$30 or so.

I use a four button balance charger.  I recommend getting one.  They are the best for proper maintenance of a LIPO.  Charging the battery depends on the charging C rating.  This might be different from the normal C rating of the battery.  Some LIPOs can take a charge at higher rates then they can discharge.  I have some RC plane 3s 2200 maH batterys that I will take a charge rate of 3 amps which will shorten the charge time.  A good quality smart charger will allow you to set the charge rate, balance the battery, and even place the batteries in storage mode.

Here is a video explaining the ins and outs of LIPOs.  I know it talks about r/c planes, but LIPO batteries specs are the same for all applications.
