Wiley-X SG-1 goggles
« on: August 02, 2006, 10:49:04 PM »
I bought a pair and was surprised with how nice and flexible they are, and how easy it is to change the lenses and the goggle strap, etc. However, one [major] problem has occurred. They fog really f*cking fast, despite having an "anti-fog coating."

Where can I get some anti-fog spray? What company makes the best? How long should it work and under what conditions?

I never knew that three inches was the minimum length for a handgun barrel. I guess all of the anti-gun politicians wont be able to register their penises.

Hell, want a good product?  Go to a hockey rink, walk into the proshop and ask them for some anti fog.  Best stuff is APR or something like that.  It's for Oakley visors (for hockey helmets).  ITECH's anti fog works pretty well too.  There's about 5 types at the ice den.

The stuff doesn't seem all that expensive at all. I guess over the next few months I'll try each out for a few games.

Thanks.

SG-1s are what I used at LCV. Our squad used an anti-fog (provided by Wicked-Mpact) that seemed to do its job but. But with the extreme fogging that occured it actually blurred your vision instead of stopping the fog. So you either had blurry vision or you had foggy lenses. What I did on the second day of battle was make the ventilation slits in the seal a little bigger. Worked out great. More air circulated thru the lense area to vent moisture.

Thanks for the heads-up John - I've been looking at buying a set of the SG-1's (or the CQC's). I convinced my optometrist to carry them so I can get the Prescription version.

Just "something about the name" :)

Ughhhh, Stargate nerds.

+1 vote for FogTech. Skylar had something else...and it worked OK, but I don't think I put it on right, so, my experience was limited.

Best bet is either M-Frames or TurboCams.

All right. I took War Savage's advice and I cut about 1-2 millimeters off each side of the foam padding. I also loosened my goggles a bit and the ventilate very well. Now time for the other lens and then my other two clear lenses.

On Friday I'll try to go to Paul's and he'll sample me some FogTech.

As for the goggles, if anyone's interested, I got them for $45 off eBay with the case (whoop-dee-doo) and an extra set of smoked lenses and the straps and etc.

Do you guys think I can achieve the same success with this other model of Wiley X eyewear?

Blink LA

It doesn't look very different, other than the fact that the lense are light adjusting.

I would think so. Looking at reviews of other Wiley-X goggles, most apear to have the same kind of foam padding.
