Yet another goggle question - ESS Striker Series Flight Deck

Alright so sorry to add to the pile of specific goggle questions, but I did a search and got zilch.

I'm looking for a pair for LC that will fit under my MICH, US Cav says they will fit under "cranial-style helmets" and I don't exactly understand how a cranial-style is different from any helmet worn on the head.

Second question is, obviously, does anyone know if they're any good?  Has anyone had any personal experience?

I really like the price and they're ANSI rated so I would definitely get these if nobody can give me a legit reason not to.

Those are good goggles, but they are rather large.  I'm not sure if they would comfortability fit with a helmet.  They are a good choice if you wear glasses.

ESS Profiles (http://www.safetyglassesusa.com/ep01dt1-msr.html) would work better, although they cost more.

Of the ESS line I'd say that ESS Profiles and ESS Profiles Turbocams are the only ones I would buy.

I don't know what the Flight Deck part changes, but Strikers are way thick. The depth of the goggle determines how easy/hard it will be to see your gear if you look down at it.

I've used the profile thermals and the land ops striker series in iraq, the profile thermals worked ok under a PASGT (K-POT) and the ACH or MICH whatever you wanna call it, the land ops were terrible, way too big and bulky and they fog up too quickly

I definitely like the Profile series (and the Turbofans too, but I can't afford that much now).

However, I know you can get Wiley X goggles for about the same price.  Which would you recommend?

Finally, does color really matter?  I was thinking foliage green would go fine with both camo colors and ACUs, but I don't know if black is more common.

Wily X and ESS  is a trusted company around the military, I would go with either company.

You should check to see you has cheaper replacement lens, just in case you keep scratchin them to hell.

Color isnt really that important, if you wan them to match your uniform then go with a color. Foliage green will go well with ACU's.

The only problem I have with my Profiles are that they sit to close to my face. So when I sweat my eye-lashes are close enough to the lens for it to drop onto when I move. Im considering trading them for a pair of Flakjaks since they seem to be alittle bit bigger.

I got mine for 83shipped.

i use the NVG's they've lasted forever and changing the lenses is a snap. i love em. no fog, comfortable for prolonged wear

The ESS Land Ops suck unless your up on the gun during a convoy, they fog up way too fast, and they are huge, both versions.

The first version of the wiley x goggles that they issued us in country suck as well, yes they have removable lenses but they are very uncomfortable, and will begin to give you a headache.

From my experince i would recomend an easy on off CQB style safety glasses. oakley has some nice ones with interchangable lenses, or belive it or not some spy motorcross goggles, my gunner overseas wore those while up on the gun.

Most of the people on this board wear shooting glasses, but at some of these larger, national OPs we go to, a sealed goggle is mandatory, which is why he was asking -- definite +1 on the Oakleys though.

Yeah the CQB Oakleys are really nice.

When I was last deployed, I went through 5 or 6 different kinda goggles before I settled on something I liked. I just know those ESS suck they are on my ACH but I never use them.

But the same goes with vest's, rig, drop downs....... I haven't yet found the perfect set-up for a SecFor tasked soldier, you know not quite grunt, but deffenitly not a pouge, something in and out of gun truck with ,but able to be self sustaining...... what I'm getting at is each person and each mission is different, get what works for you.
