As far as I know (thought what exactly do I know) a silencer is the only thing thats illegal to a civilian.

It was actually intended humor, which I'm clearly not good at.  As far as the rest of the post, I wasn't sure, I just thought I recalled reading somewhere something about silencers and federal legality.  I'm sorry I didn't know, delete it if you want.

That's what the other guys are refering too, if you know that you don't know for sure then don't help spread miss information.  Instead of posting just sit back, relax, read and then learn. Or research it yourself.

No, go ahead and spread that bad info.

That way I won't have to wait for product availability next time I buy a suppressor, because all the fucktards don't think they can have one.

You can own lots of fun stuff (full autos, destructive devices, sbrs, supressors, etc.) as long as you pay the tax stamp ($200 a pop) and file the correct paperwork. Generally it takes many months to process the paperwork. If you can purchase a firearm, you can usually purchase a class 3 weapon.
Oh yeah, and you gotta sign away your privacy (i.e. no warrant necessary to enter your home), and get police permission to purchase the weapon.

Also, depending on the set-up you want, multiple tax stamps may need to be paid. Say you want an sbr and a supressor, 2 tax stamps would apply.

You'll still have to wait and you know it, not just for the paperwork but because the government doesn't like you, specifically

Not to pick but its actually "Article" 2 , not "Title" if you are referring to the UCC/ACC.

Doc, I am referring to Title 2 of the 1968 Gun Control Act which is a revision of the National Firearms Act of 1934 which contains language specifying the possession, sale, et cetera of short barreled rifles, suppressors, automatic weapons, et al.

and this kind of lawyer thinking is why the AZ law refers to black powder as both included and excluded when talking about explosives ;)

Quote from: "ARS 13-3101"
3. "Explosive" means any dynamite, nitroglycerine, black powder or other similar explosive material, including plastic explosives. Explosive does not include ammunition or ammunition components such as primers, percussion caps, smokeless powder, black powder and black powder substitutes used for hand loading purposes.

If you knew how to think like a lawyer and had better reading comprehension you would see there is a condition at the end of that sentence that excludes from the definition of "explosive" relative to 13-3101, black powder used for hand loading purposes.  Condition doesn't mean what you think it means either.  Try Black's Law Dictionary.

Leave the lawyering to the lawyers...

Besides, I know Vince.  I don't know you.

Sorry if I offended you with my lawyer joke, but that's a section that hits an odd chord with me.  I was pointing out that that type of thought results in laws that are convoluted because of their desire to be exact.

An aside: I think laws that aren't self-evident shouldn't exist, it *ought* to be simple enough that simply by doing the "right" thing every day you will never be at risk of breaking the law.

I'm going to go back to my idealistic little world where everyone is polite, there's no need for LEO's or lawyers, and squirrels have machine guns.
