Most of the time when you see sights mounted to the foregrip you'll find the ICS M16 rail from the carry handle to the foregrip in place. This is so the sight can actually square up with the sights on the gun. I've never had an M4, so this is all I really know about the subject.

The short answer is yes. Mounting the optic (any non-mag optic for that matter) in a more forward position provides more eye relief than having it farther back. It doesnt really make much difference, and its definitely a taste issue. Try it both ways, and everywhere in between to see what you like best. And really try it! Shoot around with it as you would in a game, or even try it AT a game. Not much differnce can be had by just looking it through it both ways. You will notice the most difference when raising it to fire. You will need to keep a tight cheek weld with it farther forward.

HUH?

I think what he's trying to get at is that with the scope mounted forward, you can use the iron sights as a backup. This way, you don't always need to use the battery on your optic when the iron sights will suffice. Being that this is airsoft, optics are mostly for looks.
