A paratrooper IS a soldier. The thing is I just don't like the way the helmet looks. I was hoping for something similar to the $250 sphera helmet... except I was going for like 50-60.

Well, my main point is: kevlar helm costs 40, paratrooper helm costs 25.
It's your choice, man, but I go by what I said.

You chose to go with a paratrooper setup, and I think you ought to finish it.

cant beat some blue-jeans for authenticity!

ps: as for equipment...for me it totally depends on the game - I prefer a realistic loadout, but if we're doing a big area, long game, I'll use my vastly versatile mod-vest and carry

camelbak, flashlight, two or three pistol mag loaders, spare battery, multi-tool, 8-10 magazines, small camo net, radio with headset, small first aid pouch, maps, grease pencil if i need it, etc....

I just end up using a lot of that stuff. However, this is not required...you'll find most people who spend a ton on airsoft are buying lots of gear for different impressions etc...I have spent 5x the money on gear  etc. than I have on actual guns/bb's/batteries... :cry:

That's not that $20 chest rig is it??

I was looking into it and it.
It was the only "affordable" rig I could find that would hold AK mags.

Nope, real Russian (commercially produced) M23 pioneer in drab - about $68 or so --- I am sure there are copies.

This one is a tough bit of kit - but beware the shoulder straps, they are reinforced fabric which is damn sharp if you dont watch yourself when you're taking it off - I've cut my ear before! :shock:

ps: it holds a bunch of junk too.

pss: will hold 8 AK magazines - no problem, but it is not for silent-open...unless you tuck the flap in or something, it has long bits of velcro - so its not quiet if you have to change a magazine  ;)
