Hey guys! i have recently spoken with the current owner of a abandoned mall in chandler by scholtskys. And they said it would be fine if we played there. thing is i dont wanna tell him yes if no one is gonna come. Please give me your honest feed back :D

if it happens, Im confident that as many players as possible will be there. a "mall" game is something talked about before that had a lot of intrest.
BUT if it is on the 19th depending on the timing you might want to make it an earlier game, so players can get from there to fightertown in time for the memorial game.

Asking as it doesn't interfere with memorial game I'd go with 3 others. I would suggest opening doors many hours before as it will be deadly hot in a closed up building

This is sounding more like BS. Great if it happens, but pretty vague on details, scope, and a 16 year old promoting it?
Think of the costs alone for insurance, city to sign off, boarding up or removing glass, electric et al..

Actually my dad works for the company that owns this mall and everything was already boarded up due to looters. Now according to date i would like it to be on the 17 or 18 starting from 9am to 12am now i havent said this is offcial so dont get mad if it doesnt happen. 50 50 chance

I'll be there either day. Make the start time 0800 at least. Also talk to some teams who have experience hosting if you need help organizing. I'd really like to see this come together.

If you could postpone the date, give some players time to request the day off for something like this. Im sure you could get plenty of people to come out without hesitation. And that would also give you time to plan out the day/event better, and/or find some players that could help out.

Would be cool. Someone said it earlier but if you postpone it like a week, put it on a Saturday more people would be able to come and get time off of work. If it was on a Saturday and like a week later I would definitely be there with some friends. I'll be watching this thread closely and hoping I don't get scheduled that day haha.

If, and I say if because there has been a lot of threads about games like this lately, this goes through postpone the date and hold the actual game on a Saturday or Sunday. That way you'll get more people to come out and play and it gives you more time to plan the gametypes. If you need any help with planning PM "That Guy" and Saguaro would be more than happy to help out. I'm sure other teams and people who host regular games would be happy to help.

if you want to get technical, if the property owner approves theres is no legality issues. only issue would arise if someone got hurt and wanted to blame it on the property owner, and that can be bypassed with waivers.
but yeah this owuld be awesome. but I agree on waiting another week, get a team to back you, and set up a Op story line, gametypes, and a plan for fun all day play. i will be there from 9am to 12pm if it happens.
and if you need the extra hand Im here happy to help any way I can. I have planned many events in NH and ME.

Want to know how I know you have no concept of how the legal system works?
1) "Verbal" permission from an unspecified land "owner" is about as good as no permission at all.
2) Last I checked, discharging airsoft guns in Chandler city limits is illegal.
3) When I break my leg tripping over some piece of fallen wood or what not, the lack of a waiver is going to seem like a rather large oversight.
I don't understand why people some how seem to think that "vacant" some how means you have free reign on the property.

Guys he is 16, this is pretty much dead then. I think Xavier is wrong because I have been stopped by cops before when playing airsoft at walgreens field, in a park, pretty far away form other people, police said there was no law against it and wished us a good day.

I speed 100% of the time and have never gotten a speeding ticket. That doesn't mean it's not illegal. Cops do not spend every waking second pouring over the laws and statutes nor do they enforce every single infraction that they see. Not to mention laws change. Here's a thought, rather than assuming it's legal, why don't you find out. Seriously, that whole "it's better to ask forgiveness than permission" doesn't generally work so well with the police.
11-6. - Display or discharge of weapons other than firearms.
A. It shall be unlawful within the City limits for any person to display any air gun, gas operated gun, spring gun or any toy or weapon that is a replica or close in appearance to a firearm in such a manner that a reasonable person would feel threatened by such display.
B. It shall be unlawful within the City limits to discharge any air gun, "B-B" gun, gas-operated gun or spring gun or any instrument, toy or weapon commonly known as a "peashooter," "slingshot" or "beany" or any other instrument, including but not limited to bows and arrows, made for the purpose of throwing or projecting missiles of any kind by any means whatsoever, whether such instrument is called by any name set forth above or by any other name.
C. The prohibitions of this section shall not apply on private grounds or premises when, under the circumstances, such instrument can be fired, discharged or operated in such a manner as not to endanger or be likely to endanger any persons or property and also in such manner as to prevent the projectile from traversing any grounds or space outside the perimeter limits of such grounds or premises. There shall be a further exception when public or private grounds or premises are utilized for the purpose of an organized meet or shooting match involving the use of such weapons and when such meet or shooting match has been authorized by the owner or controller of such premises and written permission for same obtained from the Chief of Police.
D. Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and punishable in accordance with Chapter 1 of this Code

It goes on to say you need written permission from the owner as well as permission from the chief of police.

But really, doesn't this belong in the games discussion and not the RSVP? There's only one game scheduled for this weekend and a few that are months away.
My point, read the posted rules, new guys, and post accordingly in the right places.

Like Dman said, you need written permission from the property owner, and the chief of police. And if it's an open mall, (which it is) than the perimeter would have to be well netted to prevent any BB's from possibly/accidentally endangering by-passers.
FUJI DOES NOT FIT THIS CATEGORY. Nobody has written permission from the owner or police. We used to have written permission from the owner, but that owner no longer owns that land.

Forget about city ordinances and legal issues with minors.....seriously does the owner of this facility realize that people of all ages wearing combat gear and carrying guns that appear real to the general outsider will be entering property and shooting plastic all over the place which can potentially cause interior damage to drywall, and leave bb's all over the place?? What management company or owner would freely give that kind of deal without some type of compensation and legal cover?
I would assume the building owner or management company would at a minimum have to have some kind of legal issues worked out on paper and not a verbal agreement with a minor.
If it happens I'll be there but I surely am not gonna hold my breath on this one.

I was talking to Avex and he told me(because I had the same thought) that a fence will be put up. But apparently some of the buildings are connected inside. So it's indoor outdoor.

First second a Polarstar or gas pistol/aeg is fired someone will call the police. The noise will be amplified people will be concerned.
Not to mention some one will throw a thunder B. We all know how those draw attention.

Yeah I sent a email to him and the chandler police dept. Today I might go to the mall and think up some scenarios also might talk to fencing company for fences might need help getting them up.

Because some of us prefer to avoid getting the police called to an Airsoft game. There's so much that could go wrong with this it's not funny. If the legal matters can be sorted out, I'd be happy to play there. But as somebody responsible for this site, I don't want to to be the one explaining to police why I allowed people to use this site to organize an illegal event. It sucks but that's the way our society is. We have to cover our ass.

Please do not show up to the mall until everything is confirmed and ironed out. Wait the extra few weeks if need be to show up and play. Nobody on these boards wants to see 4 people running around an abondoned mall with military gear and police surrounding the area on the news. Do not do anything stupid to ruin this sport for all of us.

Oh I belive it. I seen a dude accidentally grab his real Glock and not his airsoft one and run out to the feild. I'll keep my fingers crossed that all goes well for this mall. I'll continue watching

Seriously, lets get some initiative going, and make this happen for real. If OP isnt fully up to it (not saying theyre not) say something, this is an opportunity none of us wanna miss! And honestly, free is great, but I wouldnt mind a cover charge if it helps get this done, plus the cash could be used for props to make gameplay more versatile and immersive.

As of yet, I only see an idea with little to no implimentation. I would not attend a game where I could be arrested by dozens of police officers. A lot of legit stuff would need to happen and proven before I would attend a game at that location or any other location within city limits for that matter.

The concept is good,
After concurence of the property owner or corporation, a business plan, insurance, needed permits, and so forth, might be doable for one or two hundred thousand dollars...
Not to mention the time it would take to put this package together would required attorneys, focus and dedication...
Legally this would have to be accomplished by a person or group of persons +18
And last but not least to try to accomplish this for a one time game may well make it the most expensive airsoft venue in the valley...

I did talk with Avex and he got consent from the chief of police and the owner, he says really only thing left to get was a fence to protect the street from stray bbs. That was about 4 days ago i think, after that i havent heard much.
