Hi Cheez, Christopher Creek (near the community) has a lot of older folks.. They might not dig what we do much, however, the Creekside Lodge is a great place for dinner! For a field, I think maybe a little further up 260? maybe another ten miles, as you get to the turnoff for Willow Springs Lake, et al.. On the other side of the highway there's a little Forest Service parking lot, bathrooms, and a small ranger cabin.
I was up there just a few weeks ago and everything was closed up. Well, if you take the dirt road just past that cabin.. For a few miles it's all open forest. Further on, you get to a bunch of isolated campsites. But there's some good deserted forest right on the edge of the Rim..
I know another neat spot too just down the Young Rd. about 8-10mi from 260, too. Lots of isolated forest with very few campers till deer and elk season. It's reachable with a passenger car, too, and lots of hills and skirmish possibility.
As the realtors say, "potential, potential!"
