Question
« on: May 19, 2005, 04:07:24 PM »
Has anyone ever considered playing games up in Sedona at all? Maybe up around the Christopher Creek area? Does anyone live around there? Just had a few questions because I was up there a couple weeks ago and thought it would be neat to airsoft at.

This is a two part post. My family and I went out to the Renn fair this year, and my buddy and I were thinking how cool it would be to play in that fairground. Reason is all those buildings and structures are permanent. Just thinking out loud here :P. Maybe get a few guys to talk to the owners about playing out there?

Your thoughts about either?

Hi Cheez, Christopher Creek (near the community) has a lot of older folks.. They might not dig what we do much, however, the Creekside Lodge is a great place for dinner! For a field, I think maybe a little further up 260? maybe another ten miles, as you get to the turnoff for Willow Springs Lake, et al.. On the other side of the highway there's a little Forest Service parking lot, bathrooms, and a small ranger cabin.

I was up there just a few weeks ago and everything was closed up. Well, if you take the dirt road just past that cabin.. For a few miles it's all open forest. Further on, you get to a bunch of isolated campsites. But there's some good deserted forest right on the edge of the Rim..

I know another neat spot too just down the Young Rd. about 8-10mi from 260, too. Lots of isolated forest with very few campers till deer and elk season. It's reachable with a passenger car, too, and lots of hills and skirmish possibility.

As the realtors say, "potential, potential!"

I have never been able to get the people who run special events for the renn faire grounds to contact me back, so I'd imagine you probably wouldn't have any luck in that regards.  :(

Hey Reaver,
What is the number for those with the Renn fest? I can try to contact them. Hell I have nothing but time on my hands at the moment.  PM me the info and I'll see what I can do.

We would probably have to rent the location over the weekend we want to use it for so it would be another fee based game.

I dont think that they would appreciate 6mm divits, dings or chipped paint on thier buildings.  Its been a long time since I have been out there but dont they have real glass in some of their windows??

I am just guessing that this is probally the main reason no one there is really interested.

When Cowtown had night paintball games, they had plywood hung over the windows.

Im with you on that bro my folks have a cabin up there!!! I play on the state land all the time!!! People are allowed to go hunting, and ATVing through there. People are different up there, and would not think its odd seen a bunch of folks running around in gear and guns!!!

If you get caught on State Trust land playing airsoft you get a criminal tresspass charge from the local sheriff.  Thats what happens where I live, a bunch of paintballers got nailed.  They also go after target shooters.

Most of the structures out there are made of concrete/stucco, and I really don't think people would bat an eye at a small paint chip. They are already pretty beat up and I really don't know if people would mind. Also, just duct taping cardboard over the windows would probably suffice.

But don't forget. We're playing airsoft.

There is an awesome place right out of Heber, just about 30-40 minutes from Payson. My family owns a cabin up there and the spot is in the National Forest right next to it.

Really cool!

Actualy I just asked my dad what kind it is for clairification. It is Federal Land not State Trust, and everyone uses it. The only thing you cant do on it is chop for fire wood. Anyway there would be no acess for a large group of airsofters anyway due to the way it boarders the neighbor hood. But thank you for expressing your concern.
