Zombie Game Discussion
« on: January 07, 2009, 01:41:10 PM »
Marauders Tactical Training is in the planning stages of putting together a zombie airsoft adventure in late February (either 21 or 27).

The event would be hosted at the Statewide Assault Airsoft Facility in down town Phoenix.  The location features two different floors with low light rooms and offices.  As there is not any external lighting (windows) the event would be run during the day from 10 am - 6 pm.

This first event would most likely be 18 and up for the general public as it will be the first large event at the facility.

The missions would be similar to those from Op: Zombie Hunter at the MTT Urban Assault Course.  Here's a short summary of those missions.

Mission 1
SRT is assigned to sweep and clear a building complex in an area with the infected.  Teams must clear the areas in order.

Mission 2
Team must locate and rescue trapped civilians or vaccine to save infected team members.

Mission 3
Team must secure an area and barricade the entrances while awaiting extraction helicopter.

Mission 4
Surviving team members must move to the extraction point.

Each of the missions was approximately 15 - 30 minutes depending on the skill level of the players.
Participants played as a team member during the first four missions and then as a zombie for another team during the second set of missions.  The adventure will probably be run at least three times during the event.

MTT would like to get some idea about the interest level from the local players.  The cost would probably be between $20 - 40 per player depending on whether prizes, shirts, patches, etc. would be given out at the event.

Post up your ideas and questions to get the discussion going.

Some general feedback already received from our last zombie op:
300 fps for aegs
Teams start with limited ammo (100 rounds per person) and must find additional ammo
Zombie regens after 30 seconds from at least 50 feet away (2 - 3 rooms)

This would be my first big game in Arizona in the first month of being there, I'M GAME!!!!!
30 bucks seems a reasonable extreme and 20 is definitely doable.

This definately sounds awesome.

When you get "bitten" by a zombie, do you become a zombie immediately or are you dead for 30 seconds first?

Instead of like last time where you sat down for 30 min. we need to go back to spawn and have an instant respawn.  Because people would just camp downed zombies and shoot you right when you got up.  Also we should be able to have a few guys able to fun, just like in 28Days and L4D.  That way its more like hordes coming at you.  I would also suggest make it a REQUIREMENT to use a red shaded light, unlike last time where your fellow team mates would blind you and ruin your vision. lol

Also 200rds would be nice for the last game. lol

Thanks for the questions.

Location of the building is near 4th Avenue and Madison.

When a player is infected, they will turn into a zombie at the beginning of the next mission unless they receive a vaccine during the mission they were infected.

Zombies that are hit will stay in place for thirty seconds and then move to a respawn point at least 50 feet or two rooms away from the action.

We will probably have a few "runners" during some of the later missions to make things more interesting.

You should make it so that runners must scream as they come charging down.

$20 sounds reasonable. I'd be willing to pay more if there were prizes.

The 300fps limit seems to rule out a lot of aegs, even ones intended for cqb. What kind of weaponry do people bring to these games?

Are there any movement restrictions for zombies?

Can zombies communicate with each other?

Registration for the event will probably open up next week. Event details will be finalized after a site survey conducted during this weekend during the Close Quarter Combat Training.

Looks like the date for the event will be set for Saturday, Feb. 28.

Our staff is still trying to figure out the cost for the first event.  Probably going to be $20 for MTT Annual Pass Owners and $30 for the general public.

As for questions about AEG chrono limits, the event will stay with lower than 300 FPS with .25 bb's.  Keep in mind that this will be an extreme close quarter and low light event.  The missions will provide an excellent opportunity to use those pistols, spring shotguns, or even springer pistols that don't get much use at regular airsoft events.

MTT will also have a number of MP5's available for rent at the event for $10 during the missions that shoot about 275 FPS.

Game  and registration information has been posted on the local games listing page.

Depending on the success of the game, we will probably host a similar event for minors in March.

Thanks to everyone who shared their ideas for the event.

We did a few Zombie rounds at the Big Game at Marauders last weekend.  It was awesome!  It was my first Zombie Airsoft experience and I am already registered for the Resident Evil game in February.  I love zombie movies and this the best way to do it.  The ability to do it in a building is just amazing!  I cannot wait until next month.  MTT always puts on a good game, I have never been disappointed.

Give me an army of West Point graduates and I\'ll win a battle. Give me a handful of Texas Aggies, and I\'ll win the war.
