Preemptive Problem Thread
« on: February 01, 2012, 09:24:45 PM »
In upcoming days I'll be opening my gearbox for the first time, and I'm sure there will be plenty of problems along the way. This may sound a bit weird, but I'm going to post this thread now, and I'll add any questions as they come. Thanks for the help.

Just watch out for the spring and spring guide as it can fly out of the gb scattering your parts, and that sucks when you don't know where everything goes. Hold the cylinder down as you pry the gb open.

if your in the west valley get ahold of me and mabey we can work something out so that i can help you open it and show you the right way to do it.
and i doubt that im the only tech here that will help you in this way.
trust me, having someone that is experienced there to help you for your first time will be much better than having someone on a forum try and describe to you what needs done.

dont forget to put a small screw driver in the hole on the back of the gearbox, it will go in the spring guide and stop it from popping out. along with holding the cylinder down.

what spazz said is how i learned  :D

This time I feel that I would like to do it myself, mostly as a learning experience. I've seen some of your work, and much of the time it is fantastic, but right now want to figure out things for myself. I really appreciate the offers though.

Well, the only real problem I'm having right now is putting the trigger assembly back together. Are there any sort of tricks to use when putting it back together?

try using some grease to help the spring stick on the trigger, or even a little bit of super glue.
Then install the trigger and when Ur holding it in there, make sure to press the spring down as deep as possible in the gearbox by the safety mech, so it doesn't have that twisted pressure from the spring making it want to pop back out.

what type of gearbox is this btw?

Well, after days of uncertainty, and venturing into the depth of insanity, I've finally reassembled the damn thing. One last question, how do I ensure it's working properly? Everything seems to function with the battery, but I'd like to make sure of this. Thanks for all the help, and I'll be sure to bring it to a tech next time I decide to open it back up.
