Good question, and it depends.  How do you like to play?  Style?

It's more about stealth than about firepower in this situation.  You're going to be WAY outranged since your going up against upgraded AEG's that can engage you from a MUCH further distance, but if you can get closer without being seen, well, you get the idea.

Well, I haven't used a pistol as a primary in a game, but Wolf has. It wasn't even a gas, it was a TM MK23 <b>spring</b>. Even then he got a few kills, so, yes, if you are good/experienced enough (with your pistol), then I'd say it'd work as a temporary primary.

Well, my friends and I see a problem with upgrading right off the bat. One, you tend to lose appreciation of stealth, and other skills needed to get in closer for the "stock" kill. Two, you could be putting yourself in a world of hurt because you don't have a back-up, stock weapon. So, if your upgraded gun breaks down, you're stuck. Also, I wouldn't say it's more efficient because:

1) You pay for labor costs when you get a proffesional installation.
2) You don't get experience taking down your gearbox/gun.
3) Because you don't get experience taking it down and repairing/lubing/cleaning it, if it breaks down, you won't know how to fix it, and no one wants to send a gun all the way across the country, or, even to HK, to get it fixed.

In summary, yes, you can use it as a temporary back-up. No, it wouldn't really be any more effecient to get an upgraded gun without doing it yourself, especially if you only have a gas pistol. It wouldn't be fun playing with that as your only gun, especially if you had a choice in the steps leading to it. Sorry if some of this sounds like babble, but I'm pretty tired right now.

If it meant playing or not playing, I'd use a sidearm as a primary gun, sure.  The above comments are all correct, and whether or not they matter depends on what Paco asked you: what is your playing style?  I do understand your future wants/goals, and it is tougher to compete against upgraded guns IN THE HANDS OF EXPERIENCED PLAYERS, even when using another AEG yourself...but I say play with the Beretta and have a blast.  Look at it this way:  If you tag a guy with an upgraded AEG (preferable the stealthy fellow toting an AUG...) you'll get kudos for the skill it took to do it.
Of course, an upgraded gun in the hands of a player who has similar experience to your own is no different.  It is not the tool, it's the talent.  So stay away from Mikey, Paco, Harley, and a couple of others, and you should be OK.
NO knuckle shots, though.  Very painful...

I like the attitude you have about the whole thing... In paintball I always loved demonstrating how useless a $1200 angel is when there is a guy ten feet behind you with a pump gun <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>.  I just wanted to throw that one out there so I wouldn't show up at my first game with my beloved beretta and get laughed off the field.

Now I just need to worry about the guy ten feet behind ME with a $30 springer <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

Hi all,
  I am a new member (yet to attend my first game) and I currently own a ksc m93r which I bought from the command post.  My question is this: how would my 93 hold up as a temporary primary weapon (stock or upgraded)?  The reason why I ask is twofold... First of all I don't have much money right now, and it is way cheaper to throw $100 into a gun I allready own than to buy a new gun and mags and battery and charger etc. etc. etc...
  Secondly, looking at DEN and Redwolf it looks like it might be more practical to order an allready upgraded gun from them when I am ready to step up to that.  I don't want to be one of those dumb newbies showing up to my first game with some upgraded gun, but it seems more efficient in the long run to buy an upgraded gun all at once.
  So to sumerize (sorry for the long post):  Has anyone here ever used a gbb (sotck or upgraded) as a primary weapon?  I have used it in a couple of games against my friend's stock marui mp5k and it seemed to do O.K., but my friend is a newbie as well so that doesn't mean anything I suppose...
