Armalite AR-50 ???
« on: July 22, 2012, 11:57:49 AM »
Hi all, I have some quick questions for anyone who knows this rifle. What is their typical used value? Are they reliable or something to stay away from? he reason I ask is because someone has offer one up in a trade situation for a car I have for sale. I will be starting into a real steel collection soon, however, this isn't exactly how I would have started out. I am always intrigued by stuff that is not so common so I am fairly interested in it. Any info is greatly appreciated.

You'd be better off asking this on AZS if you haven't already.

Its a bad first gun. Single shot, expensive to shoot, heavy recoil, expensive to shoot, not useful for hunting, expensive to shoot.

Plus at over 30lbs, theyre heavy beasts and really long. And pointless unless you have regular access to 1000+ yard shooting ranges. Anything less and youre better off buying a .308 or .30-06, which are both MUCH cheaper to shoot.

My .02.

Thanks for the heads up, just headed over there.

I can realize that it is not a very practical rifle, especially as a first gun. With that said, I would most likely not be firing it anytime soon. I am a little towards the unorthodox side of things, as I have a SocomGear M82 in my AS collection so I'm not afraid of having a AR-50 in a RS collection. Ultimately, it all depends on what the guy is going to be offering with the rifle in the trade but I do appreciate the feedback.
