Title: Crossfire's annual summer camp out event
Post by: Edward McRichy on June 16, 2015, 10:26:35 AM
Free Summer Airsoft event hosted by Crossfire

Crossfire is back at it again! We hosted this event the last two years and had an amazing turn out both times, with all the positive feedback, we went back to the drawing board and came up with improved scenarios and new objectives.  Bio Degradable BB's are required for this event.

People are going to hate us, some will complain.....we can take it.  We really wanted to host our game in a new location this summer, however things fell through at the last minute.  We will be changing the game location to the location we hosted last year.  It will be in the Apache Sitgreaves National Forest.  Please see link for new location below.  Read the entire post as there are multiple updates.
Updated 7/29/15

There will be signs posted with "CF" in big letters.  If you have any questions PM me.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and hope you will still come out

The forest service knows we are coming and a Ranger is expected to stop by sometime on Friday night or Saturday.  They have my name and contact info, therefore if they stop by please direct them to me.  I will introduce myself at the game briefing; I will also be the one doing the game briefings.  If a Forest Ranger shows up to our site please follow these basic tips:
-always follow directions given by the officer
-always address the officer as "Officer" (they like that)
-always show respect for authority
-if an officer approaches while preparing for a game or messing with your gear, set it down, step away from gear and keep hands visible
-If you are walking around with your airsoft gun when an officer approaches, set down it down (lean against a tree if you have to) keep your hands visible and free of objects
-even if officer is wrong, on the spot is not the time to disagree or resist, police departments have a process for civilian complaints or court of law depending on situation
A few things to consider prior to coming to this activity; pick up after yourself, clean as you go, the Forest Service does not tolerate people littering.  Bring trash bags to pack your trash and take with you when you leave.  The area we are going to be in should be just as clean if not cleaner than before we got there.  See http://www.fs.usda.gov/detailfull/asnf/home/?cid=STELPRD3847277&width=full (http://www.fs.usda.gov/detailfull/asnf/home/?cid=STELPRD3847277&width=full)  we want to be good stewards of the forest and show that this is an activity that we can continue to do without causing problems with the Forest Service.  If you spot wildlife leave them alone, do not shoot nor attempt to shoot your airsoft gun at any animals regardless of size.  Do not cut down any trees.  If we all follow these simple rules the activity will be a success and set us up for next year.
Updated 7/29/15

Schedule (subject to change):
If you can't come Friday please come join us Saturday morning.

Friday-afternoon
•   Set up camp and familiarize yourself with the terrain
•   Eat dinner
•   Play short games as people arrive

Friday night sniper challenge - half the players will divide up into a sniper team, a sniper team consists of a sniper and a spotter.  The other half will defend the playing field.  The snipers objective is to remain hidden and hit the target without getting hit.  If the sniper or spotter are hit the team must return to the starting point and try again.

Other games Friday night as desired

Saturday-

Wake up, eat breakfast, chronograph guns, gear up, and separate into teams…

Chrono begins at 0830

0900 - Pilot Rescue: Both teams must Search for and secure the pilot.  Once you have secured the pilot he will tell you where the intel is located but only if he is on your team, if he is not on your team he will not tell you where it is but may give hints.  Teams must battle for possession of both the Pilot and the intel. Your team cannot take possession of the intel unless you already have possession of the pilot.  The game is over when one team takes possession of both, returns to their base and defends and maintains possession of the pilot and intel for 20 minutes or until time runs out.

1030 - Capture the flag: Each team will have several flags in their possession.  Your teams objective will be to capture a point and hoist your flag.  If the opposing teams flag is already there you must take the flag and replace it with yours.  Once you hoist your flag you must defend it.  Points can be retaken as many times as necessary.  The team with the most opposing flags wins.

1200 - lunch break

1300 - Squad based game.  This game, as the title states will be squad based.  You and your squad will be given an objective to achieve. Build your squad before the game, or combine with others the day of.  We will be running squad based missions for this game.  If you are a sniper this is your time to shine.  Come with your best camo and tune your sniper rifle, don't forget to have a spotter.

1500 - Escort the VIP.  One team will start with possession of the VIP, their goal will be to safely escort the VIP to the safe zone.  Once in the safe zone you must successfully defend the zone and VIP for 20 minutes.  Along the way to the safe zone there will be respawn points, each time the VIP is hit he must respawn at one of these locations. If the VIP is hit while in the safe zone, one minute is deducted from the current time of possession, so with every hit on the VIP time is increased.

6 pm - Dinner time, for those who stay.

Night games played and organized by those remaining.

Sunday-

Wake up, clean up camp and go home

Gear Needed:

Airsoft equipment - Guns, ammo (Bio BB's are required), magazines, batteries, accessories etc.

PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) - Safety glasses, goggles, or metal mesh goggles (EYE PROTECTION IS REQUIRED)

Game gear - 2 green and 2 blue chem sticks for night games(can be found at most sporting goods stores and Wal-Mart), A red bandana or red rag for deaths. We would like to see everyone wearing full camo and if you don’t have camo wear all black or dark green.

Camping and Airsofting: You are responsible for your own camping and Airsofting gear as well as food and drinking water. Be sure to bring at least one gallon of drinking water per day. You are responsible for picking up and hauling out your own trash when you leave.

General Concerns: PPE is REQUIRED at all times during gameplay!! We will be playing 200 Yards away from our camp minimum. We will be playing respawns and medic rules, these rules will be further discussed at the pre-game briefings. Keep foul Language to a minimum out of respect for others. No one under 16 is permitted to play without a guardian, if you are under 16 you must be playing with your guardian on your team and cannot play unless said guardian is playing in the current game. We will be divided into teams before we play and teams will be separated by uniform. At night you will need to communicate with your team and know of their whereabouts at all times. For each scenario there will be a mission statement and briefing. We will have a chronograph and tags, so have your guns ready.

Crossfire will not have any BB's, death rags or any other items for sale.  Please come prepared to play.

FPS limits: 385 w/.25
Snipers/DMR 530 w/ .25's Single Fire ONLY minimum range 100’

These games, as well as all of Crossfire’s games are free. We are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged property. If you choose not to follow safety guidelines and game rules or are found harassing other players unnecessarily, you will be asked to leave. We only ask that you respect others and play honest and fair.
Thank you! - Crossfire

There are no restroom facilities,  so bucket seat and tp are necessary,  along with a shovel to bury your waste.

Sorry, it's a pretty common rule with these public games that you need to be accompanied by an adult.  The risk for others in attendance even if there is a notarized signed waiver is just not something that most people want to deal with.  This is not only for your protection but to protect others in attendance.  We support airsoft for everyone of all ages and wish you could participate but as a team Crossfire will not make that decision for the other 60 in attendance.  Hope you understand.

Your post is your RSVP.  I just need to know what color uniform you will be wearing.  If you don't have that yet try to wear as much black as you can.

Important Game update for this weekend.  Pass the word.  location change.

People are going to hate us, some will complain.....we can take it.  We really wanted to host our game in a new location this summer, however things fell through at the last minute.  We will be changing the game location to the location we hosted last year.  It will be in the Apache Sitgreaves National Forest.  Please go back to the beginning to see the original game post for a link to the new location.

From highway 260 turn left on Rim road/FR 300/Woods Canyon Lake.  Continue on FR 300 approximately 8 miles.  Turn right on FR 169.  Continue on FR 169 for approximately 7 miles.  Turn right on FR 119, continue down 119 for 1 mile, camp site on the left.

There will be signs posted with "CF" in big letters.  If you have any questions PM me.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and hope you will still come out.

Final warning, if you haven't already,  please go back to the original post and read the whole thing. Double check the location one more time.   There will be a sign that says "CF"at each turn.  The last time I will look at the post is around noon.

Roads should be accessible for any vehicle, it may be a little wash board towards the end but go easy and be safe. We are buggin out!!

I found a black mag with initials on the bottom. Gave it to the admins of the game so if you lost it check in with them. Had a great time in the woods even if we (green team) got smoked with capture the flag. Got a few pics at the end of the squad game and will post them up soon.

Had a great time! Big thanks to the people at Crossfire.

However, there was a disgusting amount of trash left behind at the main camp site, the one right across from the briefing area. The area is littered with tiny scraps and there was a full trash bag, a broken folding chair and a plastic jug left by the two fire pits. Our group left at around 9pm, and and there was another storm upon us. We were only able to pick up the big stuff.

Seriously guys, WTF... What happens when park rangers see the mess left behind?

Here is a quote from the OP, "Bring trash bags to pack your trash and take with you when you leave.  The area we are going to be in should be just as clean if not cleaner than before we got there. " ...

On a positive note, to the person who lost their optic out on the field, we found it! PM me with what kind of scope/optic it is and we can figure out how to get it back to you.

Our squad left Sunday afternoon. Most of the trash was gone by then but we still found some trash in the staging area that we went ahead and picked up - plastic bottles, colored armband tape, and other stuff. We as airsofters collectively have to a better job leaving the site trash free otherwise it will give airsoft a bad name, and nobody wants that.

The event was really fun and thanks to Crossfire for putting on a good (and free) event. It might have been helpful to have a sign posted up at the event with game times and game information, and perhaps even some 5-minute warning air horn blasts to signal that games were about to start. That might have given the event a more organized feel. I know you posted game info in advance on the forum, but I had no cell service and I didn't save all the game info somewhere which I recognize was my bad. But still I think some signs/communication would have been much appreciated by all. We missed a game because we weren't sure if it had started and our camp wasn't right by the staging area so we couldn't just look over and see. Yes we are slow to suit-up-for-the-shoot-up and that's why it helps to know if a game is really starting in 1 minute, otherwise we might take 2 minutes getting loaded up.

Again, big thanks to Crossfire for putting this on. Hope you do it again next year.

Thanks for participating, picking up after others (no matter how much you stress that some people will never care) and thanks for the feed back.  A sign with game times is a good idea, we didn't think of it.  We will be sure to incorporate that next year.

Thank you to all who participated in our event.  I worked late last night so I don't yet have the link ready yet for photos and video, I should get that posted later today.  I don't know how many items were lost but of the three items that were found and given to us one was returned already.  The other two items were given to "Warlord" from LynchTec, they are out at wild west in east mesa, you can also contact Warlord here on the forum.

I had to leave Saturday night due to a family thing in the morning on Sunday but judging by the previous posts it sounds like we need to do a much better job of cleaning up after ourselves.  It looked to me like most of the people out there on Saturday were adults so next time lets act like it and clean up after ourselves.

Again thank you for participating in our event.  We are hoping to do this again next summer, we will try and find a bigger location for next year.

Below is a link to photos and video taken during Saturday's game play.  Download as you wish and use as you wish.  I apologize most of the video is bad, this was our first time doing the whole video and photo thing so we will get the bugs worked out and do better next year.

I lost a pistol mag during the first game. It's for a mk23 socom. In case anybody found it.
