I am friends with the land owner of the Fiddlestix Theme Park in Scottsdale/North Phoenix. The theme park was recently shutdown, abandoned, and vandalized by the employees before they left leaving us with a 130680 square foot post-apocalyptic theme park with 2 mini golf courses, 2 go-cart tracks, empty pools for bumper-boats, indoor arcades, batting cages, a full sized laser tag arena, etc...
(Think OLCMSS: Route 66 Tour at the Rockahoola water park in California) It will be fairly smaller than this but here's some examples

so no info is available in terms of field regulations or parameters.

If it's approved to play I'm sure you will get a very good crowd to play at. Make up an awesome story line and please don't do zombies. I don't want to pay or play for free at an A.O. that's really interesting and just run around from zombies. I'm sure it will be an awesome game if it gets approved.

From what OP is saying, I think it sounds like more of a permanent field, not just a single game. Which would be great in my opinion.

Well isn't it private property? If so shouldn't it be completely up to the owner of the property? Get some waivers typed up and bam! you got yourself a place to play. Am I mistaken? I assumed that as long as it isn't a business you won't have to go through all of that regulation and crap.

The fact that it is partially outdoors raises problems in terms of surrounding businesses, residencies, city limits, etc...; Yes this would hopefully be a permanent field, not just a single event

I agree! Think of opening weekend at this place...the turnout would be amazing! Also during summer imagine the night games that would go down!

IMO zombie events are only fun if you have a very large number of people willing to be strictly roleplayers. and yet still enough mainstream players for it to be fun. i would suggest waiting till near holloween and see what kind RP and MS players we have to attend.

I already sent the man a PM, I have a very good idea of how I would run the next game if I was able to do it there. I don't know what you 'gents would think about it, but I'd like to hear your opinions about getting "Stalker - At the Gates of Pripyat", to happen at this Opsite.
I would be honored to host the "Opening Game" at this field.

I was going to say. Before everyone gets there gear in a knot, definitely google the locations of these places..... The one I found was as close to in the city as you can get. It would be totally fun to run around in an abandoned amusement park, I can see the insurance and location problems already. Not to mention the fact that there would more then likely have to be some kind of additional cover put up along the boundaries, as the walls may not be adequate to catch wayward rounds. Its definitely doable, just don't expect this to be easy or free.
I would be in for an 18+ game. That would convince me this isn't the new vanguard, and convince me to keep spending money there.

I stopped spending money on a place that is over run with immature little pubescent kids with no respect. ( Some 13 year old's were wearing combat patches and unit patches with no regard... at VIP)
I agree with Exarach and it would have to be 18+ for legality reasons.

I just don't want to be sued by some kids insurance should someone under 18 come out there and get injured. For that matter I wouldn't want the host sued either. Insurance is ridiculous about this lately. When I fell off the cliff at one of our night games.... My insurance asked before they paid my hospital bill... if it was an event or hosted by anyone... This is so they could sue them. Of course I told them I was hiking and it was solely my responsibility. But that wouldn't be the same situation with people under 18. Anyways. I am not trying to turn this thread into another -18 bitch thread.
If you do host here I would be interested unless it's some zombie games which I have no interest in.

Paradox and gents, i think it really boils down to risk vs reward. and you are 100% correct with all your comments. being a business owner, at one time, i had to think about eveything. i carried a million dollar insurance policy just on myself. i think the best way to get around the 'being sued' is to have a business lawyer draft a waiver, that coinsides with the libablity insurance the PO is carrying. i really hope this happens, BUT it will take ALOT work and planning to pull it off.
on the note about -18 and under, i hate to say this but they are where the money is. so i would propose time slots or different days for each age group. ex. weekdays , all ages. friday, saturday & sunday, 9a-2p all ages, 2-6p -18, and 6-11,12ish, +18.. these are just my opinions so be nice everyone! :o

i know that but i saying if you only have 18+ you are losing the revnue from the youger group, the "little" kids is what keeps VIP running. why would only limit it to adults when kids parents are willing to give you money to "babysit" their monsters for a view hours. (and you get to shot them on top of it lol ;D)

I believe he meant it wasn't going to be an 18+ field only. If he doesn't host 18+ games he won't make money, it's that simple. Sometimes adults need adult time without kids. You'll understand when you're older.
And that's not to mention legality, which in the end is what dictates the final decision for EVERYTHING.

I don't know why you would want to close that area off. It would be sick if we could fit vehicles on it for a simulated convoy arriving at the area. Or just as a very different area to airsoft in.

Let me just say I'm 16, and I am ecstatic about a place where I can go to play airsoft: One nearby, Two without dealing with only the some of the really young and annoying section of my age group, Three that has an utterly panoramic senery for events to be hosted in. I would go to play here even if I had to pay $100 dollars to participate in an event, because this place is so breathe takingly awesome.

Probably someone under 18, I'm 16 but even i'm not stupid enough to vote no because they were talking 18 + only. But anyways I would say the only thing you might potentially have a problem with is someone falling in the bumper boats area. Other than maybe putting a fence around the dropoff you should keep everything playable, it only adds to the realism.

It looks like a great spot, with the owners concurrence, permitting, attorneys, rental and insurance should hopefully not run over a couple of hundred thousand and it appears to be somewhere that most any one in the valley can access...
Some one that has the time and dedicated interest should be putting a business plan together...
One other thought, as it is east of Pima Rd is it on the Indian Reservation...

its in the pavilions, which im pretty sure is owned by talking stick resort people and run by a leasing company... I would be under the impression that all this land is owned by them....

The Pavilions and surrounding lands are tribal property, east of Pima rd is tribal property and the tribe is the lease holder... The tribe would have the final say...

No city taxes, that's for sure. State tax is replaced by tribal, but whatever.
Also, the tribes are generally really receptive to any idea that can bring them a good amount of money, so they'd probably jump all over this.
