+1 on the Moabs.
I have a pair of the low tops I wear everyday so I can imagine the high's are even better.
Don't skimp on your feet and ankles. They'll take you out of the game faster than any other reason.

If you are willing to pay $200 for an airsoft rifle, you should be willing to spend $100 on a quality set of footwear and hiking socks.
Get the mid's, they are excellent. I also picked up a pair of North Face shoes, I'll see how they hold up. The Moabs were always the most comfortable boot I've ever worn.

Good point.  Ive been looking at the moabs a little.  My dad has Merrel trail Runners, they werent my favorite, but Ive heard a lot about the Moabs.  I might go with the Moab mids.

Anybody have any opinions on the Oakley SI Assaults or the Sabot High 2.0's?

Here's a tip if you want to step it up a notch and spend another, very much worth it, $40 or so and get a great set of boots like Asolo's, Lowa's etc.
1st rule with any boots is try them on and walk around at least for a few minutes. If any little point has the slightest discomfort, don't get them. I was dead set on getting and pair of Asolo Fsn's. Tried them on and they just didn't work. Got a set of Lowa's instead and I absolutely love them. Those might not work for you though.
Just try them on, don't just order off the Internet.
REI is local, has a great selection, and has some deep discounts sometimes.
Shop with your feet, not your head.

This, I recently had to go shoe shopping and remembered how much of a pain in the butt it was to get something that didn't fit right. A boot or shoe might look good on paper, but nothing beats actually trying it out. Not all boots are designed or created the same so I have to account for that when I buy boots for my slightly wider than normal feet. For me, nothing sucks more than having your feet swell up in boots that are too narrow a fit after having to run up and down a field all day.

To tell the truth, I ordered a pair of Altamas online on the recommendation of several peoplea little while back.  They rub on my heels, so theyre going back.  Im going to REI this weekend.  Your point is proved.   #-o

Trust me and a few others on the hiking boots. Skip the military boots, there is a reason nobody wears them while they are deployed.

Let us know what you pick up at REI.

I like converse boots. Won't last as long as some of the other brands out there, but they are about 1000000 times more comfortable. In my opinion, at least.

I've moved more to wearing my Patagonia Drifters instead, as long as I'm not in an area with a lot of cacti.

+1. Just picked up a set of the multicam converse boots - model # c8891 I ran in them all day fri sat and in a game on Sunday. No break in. They were a dream compared to other brands Ive run. Unless you can afford Oakley si assault boots.
