Accessories & Gear / Anyone interested in some smokes or flares?
« on: December 07, 2004, 09:57:28 AM »
Hey,
I know that the use of any pyrotechnics in an AA game is strictly prohibited, but for you guys who play in remote areas with your buddies, these shouldn't be a problem. Basically, I have a contact who sells orange colored smoke grenades for $6 a pop plus shipping. These things go for 3-5 minutes and put out LOTS of smoke - perfect for cover (you've probably seen these used at paintball games). These are pull pin or pull string type - not lighting of fuses. Why are they so cheap? Well, they're recently expired, so the U.S. Coast Guard will not vouch for them. I bought and used approx. 10 of these without a single problem - all worked perfectly. These do get very hot (~300 F), but the fire danger is low as they have no open flame. I have stuck one of these in a pile of dead, dried grass to see if it would catch, but all it did was dye the grass orange (NOTE: I'm not saying that there is no way to start a fire - just that its very unlikely from what I've seen and heard). Which leads to another point - this will stain anything that is approx 3 ft. from the nozzle bright orange. After that, I haven't noticed anything being colored[;)]. Pictures of the types he usually has in stock http://www.gunbroker.com/pixhost/2004-0 ... okes_1.jpg

Second on the list is road flares - these are NOT for airsoft as they are a flare - more for keeping in your trunk or one in your gear for emergencies. I can get these for 2$ each. These are also expired, but, once again, I've never had a problem with them working. They burn approx 60 sec and put out about twice as much light as a normal road flare. The two of the four models you may get: http://nas1.gbhinc.com/pixhost/2004-05- ... flares.jpg

Third are parachute flares - I also discourage the use of these for airsoft. These shoot up a flare approx 1000 ft up which then parachutes down, burning for about 40 sec. These I can get for $6.50 a piece - also expired. I keep one of these in my gear when I go backpacking or off in the boonies. An example: http://www.atlanticaeromarine.com/pages ... chute.html

Because of the possibility of misuse (or just people being stupid with them) I can only let people 18+ on this deal. Sorry, I won't reconsider. The prices I quoted do not include shipping, however, if enough people get in on this, it should be quite cheap (probably $1- $1.50 per piece). I'm not making any money off of this - just wanted to give you hardcore milsim guys some cool toys as well as some safety equipment[;)]. I'm placing the order tomorrow evening - so anyone who's interested let me know by 1700 tomorrow.
Lastly, I'm not going to "deliver" these, so you'll have to pick them up (I'm in east Tucson) *or* I will be at the Satac game on Dec. 18th at Sasco, so I can bring them there. Thanks.

http://adoptasniper.org/themovie.htm . Sad our government won't get them what they need. Zero collateral damage - a politicians dream come true. Notice the paper calling marksman at the beginning. Another reason banning firearms would be detrimental to our nation.

Site Suggestions / Deleting WTB and WTS
« on: September 03, 2004, 12:01:28 PM »
I don't know if this has been discussed, but I can't find anything under search, so please let me know. I just though that some of the "clutter" could be deleted from the forums by deleting the WTB's and WTS's when the objective has been met (ie the item was found or the item(s) was sold). Just an idea. Obviously that would take a little work on behalf of the buyers and sellers, but I think it would help improve searches and the like.

General Airsoft Discussion / Airsoft Club at UofA?
« on: August 24, 2004, 11:16:27 AM »
Hey, just throwing out an idea here, but I need to see first how many AA members attend the UofA or go to Pima. I was wondering if you guys were interested in getting together once in awhile to discuss airsoft, tactics, gear, etc. and also to help each other out with weapon/gear problems. The idea is just to have a local community, not sever ties in any way with Airsoft Arizona, but rather to encourage its growth. I definitely don't have any firm plans or anything right now, I'm just trying to get a feel if there's any interest. At this point I want only UofA/Pima students, but that may change. Let me know.

General Airsoft Discussion / Location for Jungle Toy in Tucson!
« on: August 13, 2004, 11:25:12 AM »
I was talking to Ron at JungleToy there in Phoenix and found out Tucson will be getting its own Jungletoy store in about two months! Only thing is, the location hasn't been picked out. So, to make a long story short, Ron asked me to give him some places he can take a look at for a future site. At this point, I don't have any great ideas, so for TUCSONANS and those in the surrounding area only (please) if you have any ideas, feel free to post. Remember this is a business we're talking about so don't recommend some place that is south of I-10 or someplace else where nobody goes. Be as specific as possible if you have an idea.

General Off-Topic Discussion / War for Oil?
« on: August 11, 2004, 01:43:11 PM »
Alright, I've heard plenty on the news and net on the apparent lack of WMD's in Iraq, but I haven't heard anything about the allegations of Bush "going to war for oil". Before we went into Iraq, just about everyone protesting the war said that our true motives were procuring cheap oil. So far, all I've seen is gas prices going steadily upward, not downward as an oil surplus would signal. I know the OPEC has alot to do with it, but I want to know about Iraq. Just wondering if anyone has heard anything on this subject.

Accessories & Gear / Cheap batteries at batteryspace? Are they any good?
« on: August 11, 2004, 12:55:30 PM »
Take a look at this site http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?P ... tegory=278 . To have batteries for that price makes me wonder about the quality. Has anyone ever ordered anything from these guys? Their batteries are on ebay for cheap, too.

AEG's / Batteries for M15A4
« on: August 03, 2004, 10:55:21 AM »
One question for anyone knowledgable about CA M15A4s. I just purchased an M15A4 and was wondering what the best battery for it would be. I saw some 9.6V 3000mAh on ebay for a reasonable price, what about those? Sorry, but I don't know anything about batteries when it comes to airsoft. Any help would be most appreciated.

Hey, everyones got to start somewhere. The majority of us started with springers and then found out about AEG's later on. I'll never go back to springers, though, especially when you can get a cheap gas pistol for $40 that performs better than most springers.

These two gave me a laugh. Everyone knows how expensive a trip to Texas is! Also, I didn't know animal orphanages accepted dead animals (I mean, do they have lions they need to feed or something)!

Thats what we've been telling the stupid politicians for years! It looks good on paper though, if they "outlaw the weapons of war".
