and i really dont apreciate bashing of any US military group and all of your stereotypes are any of you in the airforce anyway? do any of you really know what its like this day and age? i cant get into specifics but the airforce is moving heavily towards being more "ground pounding" like your other branches. more and more AFSCs are being trainned the same as security forces before they deploy because they dont just see the s*** they are in the s*** too
hey why are people getting pissed about something that could save one of our soldiers lives?

Yep. US Air Force Academy. It ain't the "real" air force, no, but I can say with experience that its a heck of alot harder in many ways (minus deployment). I spent the last 9 months getting the crap kicked out of me before being recognized.

Anyhow, they're going to an 8 week Basic, not twelve. You are right about including more "ground-pounding skills". As for fitness, yeah, standards are increasing for the better. I'm going to be a "ground pounder" after comissioning, hopefully, so I do my best to train for it.

I've seen several soldiers sporting the ACU before it was issued to them.  Think of all the money that's made from this alone.  I'm sure AAFES is rejoicing.

Mp doubt in my mind. But I bet I won't be seeing an issued pair for at least a year.

Nope. Probably won't be seeing an issued pair until after graduation. Implementation is set to begin in 2007 with full implementation by 2011. I imagine they'll be throwing the standard woodland uniform at the academy for some time after in order to get rid of supplies, and I KNOW that means ROTC won't be getting them anytime soon. If they speed up implementation . . .well . . . I still don't think you or I are going to see them until after commissioning.

Army flyers are better anyways....

If "better" is defined as "slower" and "easier to hit" :D . Aw heck, I'm not even going for a pilot slot so I guess I shouldn't care too much.

How are the road conditions to the AO (i.e. can a standard v6 car get there OK)?

Its as much for recruiting as anything else. At least they didn't go with the blue variant. I'm a bit pissed that it won't have alot of the features of the ACU's, but, what can you do?

I'm probably going to get a few of these when I find em for a decent price. Who needs em for marking s***? What happened to good ole concealment? Pretty intimidating having someone throw a smoke and completely blind you from their movements.

The emergency orange-colored smokes that you speak of are not very effective for cover. They simply do not put out enough smoke all at once. They are meant as long-lasting signal devices (4-5 min.)(Andy is right about being bulkier than your M18 or HC smokes, but they have a longer burn time as a result). That being said, there are situations where they could be used for cover (no wind, tight spaces, etc). The M18's sorta work as their burn time is about 30 sec. and they dump out more smoke per second (but are expensive as heck). Your Zinc-Hexachloroethane (HC smoke) grenades are by far the best cover for the money, but the smoke is more irritating. I do have a contact that sells the emergency smokes, along with high-intensity aerial and hand flares, so let me know if you want it. For those coming to the AA game on the 25th, I'll be bringing a few along.

By the way, all smoke models get quite hot. If they are made correctly, there will never be an open flame, but extreme care must still be taken to prevent a fire.

Hey, anyone have an extra headset/mic-setup they wouldn't mind lending out during this game? I have a buddy who's coming back with me for Spring Break who's never played and will be at the game. I have an extra AEG for him (and probably a motorola radio), but not an extra mic-setup. I'm not really able to pick one up before then, either (no, not because I'm lazy. Its a long complicated answer, so if you really want to know, PM me). I believe that motorola frs take the single prong connection. Again, doesn't have to be anything fancy. I just want to give him the "full experience" as it'll be his first time airsofting. That being said, I'll even make a deposit if you like in case it somehow ends up broken. Thanks all and I'm looking forward to be back with the AZ crew!

Alot of people really dislike playing at paintball fields due to the amount of paint that gets on their gear. That being said, if the facility is good enough, I'm sure they'll get over it.

Well, I doubt it will end any time soon. I'm active duty AF and the Army still sends me recruitment packages every few months.

Pretty sure that he and the guy to his right are in MARPAT while the two guys on either far side are in ACU's.

This one looks goooood. USAF owns my sorry butt, though, so I can't go. Here's hoping they repeat in future years, preferably when I have leave.

Two excerpts from scenes are now on the web: http://www.lp3media.com/shorts/vietnam.html under "scene previews". The first is more of the documentary/what they did everyday feel while the second is an excerpt from a battle scene. Enjoy.

If you have the cash, the Gerber MK II is one heck of a combat knife.

Hey all,
Just wanted to announce that the Vietnam Project that's been going on for so long is finally finished and on DVD. If anyone is interested in purchasing a copy please go here: http://www.lp3media.com/shorts/vietnam.html

Please note that we aren't making any money off of these - it merely helps to cover our cost of production.

For those that already ordered copies, you should have them in hand very shortly. As always, questions will be answered to the best of my ability :D .
