This is the hot setup for a fan system. I use one to introduce air in, and reverse the other one.

Question, -Will fiberglass withstand airsoft use? I see some neat masks on eBay, but I wonder if they'll crack with a good direct hit?

Chip

awesome idea, depending on what type of eye protection ends up being the most effective when i get to that stage of the helmet, that could be very useful.

that reminds me of another thing i was planning, was thinking of putting a built in walkie in it, with either the headset, or taking apart one of those cheap walkies,  extending the wires, and building the separate components into the helmet, going to ad a button around the right jaw area to speak, just havent came up with any ideas for changing frequencies yet. I'll finally be getting to the fiberglass-resin/bondo stage of the helmet today, so i still got plenty of time to incorporate more ideas.

Back when I used to craft the Halo pep suits, we used a multi-layered motorcycle helmet visor. Looked great, just like the real chief helmet, and was damn near impenetrable by a bb.

No chance against a .22 though......

great idea, i'm looking around for replacement visors for motorcycle helms right now, but if i may ask, where did you get yours?

Thanks for the advice, the pattern for the mask i showed here was epic fail, so we threw it in the trash can and ended up making a recon helmet from halo (pic below)
not only is it better looking, the eye area was small enough to use standard safety goggles for

This Helmet is made from the exact same pattern i used, i'm also at this stage of the creation process as well. pic was pretty big, so here is a direct link to the image

it will go through the same process as the first one was going to go through, fiberglass resin, several layers of bondo, foam / sponge inside, and is going to be painted jet black
we also came up with the idea of having a built in radio, i'll post pics of progress / completion.

it is definitely going to be well ventilated, the reference picture already has several places i can include them at, also adding some in place of where the red led lights are at in the front, as for the fogging issue, my heart inst completely set on it having to be glass/plastic if it is not possible, a good black mesh would be fine if it can provide acquit protection.

Accessories & Gear / custom eye protection?

I'm creating a custom helmet to be used for airsoft, and need segestions for what to use for the eye protection in it, I'd like for it to be able to stand up to a minimum of 550fps.

Bellow is a the helmet that the one i am creating is based off of, the eye area for the mask is much to large to use simple safety goggles on.

In case anyone is wondering what the rest of the helmet is made of, the shape came from a pepakura templet i found, and i am going through the process of resining it, then putting several layers of bondo on the outside, and using kitchen sponges on the inside for added comfort and safety.

Introduce Yourself! / so anyways...

n00b, newb, fng...I'm probably all of these at this point, and with my schedule in mind, might be one for a while.

A little about myself, before going into all 2 weeks of my airsoft life; my name is Rob, and I am originally from Texas, but I moved to Arizona to attend college where i am currently studying for a BA in video game design. I had been wanting to get into airsoft for a while, and i recently decided to purchase an airsoft sniper rifle and shotgun, so far ive been shooting mostly at boxes and makeshift targets, and a couple shots at a friend with my sniper (he fell to the fetal position crying) but if my schedule and budget both allow for it, i'd love to get into more game. I do know that i will be attending zombieland at the end of the month as my first taste of action, hope to see you all there!
