Problem staying logged in
« on: August 06, 2007, 08:39:47 PM »
I have always been able to stay logged in from home.  Ever since I got my new comp, I have to log in everytime I come to the forum.  To make things more irritating, when I go to "view posts since last visits", it says there is none.

does anyone else have this problem?  is it another stupid VISTA issue?

Do you have the thing clicked where it says "Stay longed on" or something like that. You know what I'm talking about.

In general, persistant login is managed via a cookie. It's within probabilities that either the cookie itself is missing/corrupted, or the folder itself may have problems....

Also, if you are using products like Norton Internet Security, or similar apps, they may be clearing your cookies without your knowlegde. Additionally, IE itself has a setting that will clear cookies at the end of each session.

Benn, what OS and AV software are you using?

Bruce,
I'm using Vista (by default, came with the comp) and McAffe (that also came with the computer).  I'm really unhappy with both to be honest.  I purchased the Dell through the VA, so I couldn't pick and choose the OS.  I like XP.

Simple fix.

Change over to Firefox should fix your issue

Or if you would like to try.. Control panel, internet options, Internet tab set security to medium.

Then Then Privacy and set that to medium as well.  Dump your cookies and your temp directory. After this your not done

Under browsing history click settings and click everytime I visit the webpage.

Then close IE reboot and test it out.
