Don't know crap about my M14.
« on: February 17, 2008, 06:45:39 PM »
Kiley hooked me up with a rail and a heat shield for my TM M14.  I have no idea how to take the old one off or how to put this one on.

Any knowledgeable TM m14 owner's (vince?) or gun technician's input would be great.

Thanks.

1.)  Remove Trigger Guard
2.)  Pull upper half of gun out of stock.  Make sure you are in semi (so you dont break your fire selector)
3.)  Get a small screw driver out.  There is a clip around the heatshield that is attached near the reciever.  Unclip this from both sides and slide the heatshield off of the gun
4.)  Unscrew the the four screws on the barrel unit and change out the parts necessary for the rail unit.
5.)  Reverse order from 3.) up to put back together.

Enjoy!

Hopefully that helps!

Disregard step four....you don't need to do anything with the barrel.

The trigger guard is just a friction fit, as you're shouldering the weapon (for orientation), the back part comes out...if you pull slightly, it will give way a little. I find it's easy to pry it out with a screwdriver from there.

Putting the rail on straight is tricky, when I had one I assembled the mount, but did not tighten it all the way, and then I used a level.

Yeah my bad on step 4, Havent worked on the SOCOM barrel mounts, I was 50/50 on it.  Really the entire disassembly is pretty easy.  If you have an Arnies Airsoft account I can get you a link to the guide to disassemble down to the gearbox.

http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/i ... =41887&hl=

Thats the link.  It doesnt tell you how to put the unit together but its a good guide none the less.  If you need any other help I have a vast knowledge of TM/CA/G&G M14's as well as clones and with Vince's help I'm sure we can fix just about any issue that arrises in the installation.
